I’m running NextPVR on a small NUC style PC, used for a few years with NPVR v4 without a problem, as per previous post, only seen these stuttering issues since I upgraded to Windows update 1909, and NextPVR v5.

Processor is an Intel Atom x5-Z8350 running at 1.66Ghz.

GPU is an intel chipset, but struggling to find model number in settings. Do you know where I can look to find this?

Thanks

Graphics is built into the chip.

Please recreate the problem ... attach logs to a post telling us the time that you see the 100% CPU so that we know where to look in the logs ... https://github.com/sub3/NextPVR/wiki/get-help ... Thanks.

Hi,

I rebooted the PC then left ot running for 5 minutues with GPU running at 100% for about 5 mins brfore capturing these logs.

Only thing running was the NPVR client.

Let me know if you want me to do any tests etc?

Sadly I'm starting to see recordings getting corrupted now as well, so definately a problem somewhere.

Thanks.

What is this screen size, that is more than full 4K

2021-01-26 20:02:56.360 [DEBUG][1] Rendering for screen size: 4096x2160

Anyway to configure your PC for 1080 resolution

Hi,
Ok reset resolution to 1980x1080, and now gpu is running about 80% instead of 100%.

Good news is that I can now play some of my recordings without stutter.

Sadly I seem to have quite a few that are corrupt, so I have updated my TV tuner drivers, and will test for a couple of days to see if this problem remains.

So thank you, some progress has been made. ?

What if you bring it down to 1280x720 It doesn't sound like you have h/w optimized drivers

Also what if you run Kodi client instead of NextPVR?

Hi,
I reset screen resolution to 1280x720, and then NextPVR client runs about 70% GPU, so not a massive saving over 1980x1280 resolution. However running the screen at 1280x720 causes another problem with the NextPVR client, in that you can’t access the buttons on the settings screen.

For example, I wanted to adjust the decoder settings, but couldn’t see the save button which was off the bottom of the window, and there was no scroll bar. So for now have reset back to 1980x1080 resolution, which seems to be a good compromise.

I haven’t tried the Kodi client, but using the web client only uses very low GPU compared to the windows NextPVR client, so there’s definitely some thing odd going on in that client.

Thanks.

P.S. Updating the drivers for my USB TV tuner solved the problem with recordings being corrupted. Result!

I've made change for the next release that should resolve this high GPU usage on lower spec'd machines.

Great thanks.

Dumb question? Does v5 update automatically? On v4 I used to click on a button.

Couldn’t find this in the wiki. Sad so thought I’d ask in case anyone else has the same question.

Thanks

No it does not. It's pretty painless though. The Settings page in the web app will tell you a new version is available, and if you can run the installer and it'll do inplace upgrade.
