Hello,  been using NextPVR5 installed on my PC,  and mainly use Kodi as frontend on Windows PC, and NVidia Shields.

Have both Digital DVB-T tuners in PC, and also Hauppauge Colossus.
The colossus card is feed from HDMI source from my STB, and uses HaupBlast.exe to IR blast channel changes.

This has been working really well.
However, something weird has just started happening when switching STB channels using the Colossus card.

What is happening, is that when switching to an STB channel, I am presented with an error requestor that states:
'Playback Failed' 'One or more items failed to play' 'Check the log for more information about this message'

If I then close that requestor, and select switch again, the channel usually plays just fine.
(although on the odd time the same error will appear)

So, basically, when changing channels from the STB, I need to switch channel choice 2 or more times before it is successful.

I tried the NextPVR desktop app, and it behaves similar, and requires me to switch more than once before the channel finally works.
NextPVR desktop app brings up the following error message when 'watch channel' is selected from an STB source:
'The request was aborted' and something about a timeout.

Am running the latest release version of NextPVR5, and also the latest release version of Kodi Matrix.

Logs included.

Does it work better if you turn off timeshifting in Kodi? Timeshifting isn't meant for fast changing, real time is better when you want speed.

Actually, no it made no difference whatsoever.
I changed from timeshift to realtime,  and still got the same error.

Have tried changing all sorts of settings to no avail.

Had been using current release of NextPVR5 for quite a period of uptime without issue.
Also been using it fine with Kodi Matrix release candidates.

Never had any issues with channel changing for a 'long' time. (until now of course)

About the only thing I have not yet done, is a complete power restart, so will try that, and report any change.
Also have a few image backups of system, so can restore and see if there is a difference.

Update:

Performed a complete restart of the PC.
Channel changes now seem to be working fine once more for the STB channels.

Strange.

Sorry since you are using of PVRLive and NextPVR support was supposed to have been removed from it in the version you are using so and I can't support you further while it is installed.

Glad you got it sorted though.

A member of my family tried a trial of PVRLive a 'long'  time ago before NextPVR5 was ever released.

It is seemingly still installed on one of the Shield TV devices in the house, but is not on the main menu, so has not been used by anyone in the family since.

I will nuke it,  as mentioned I use Kodi with NextPVR5.

Ok, have found and uninstalled it from the particular NVidia Shield device.

Thanks for pointiing that out tho,  as I had noticed recording notifications pop up, in a style that is not Kodi's, and I had disabled those notifications in Kodi, , so wondered where they were coming from.

Do you think that could have caused the channel changing issues on the NextPVR5 server?

I really appreciate support on this forum, so most assuredly do NOT want to lose that, as you and others have helped me solve some issues
getting my NextPVR setup up and running, and the support here is fantastic.

Before I happened across NextPVR, I was a MediaPortal user,  and am now well and truly a NextPVR convert.
(Media what????)

I have nuked the offending software.  Please let me know if you want me to send logs, or something to confirm that.
It is amazing what you can derive from logs.

I guess I was more surprised that the version of PVRLive that is supposed to have dropped NextPVR support was still connecting. No harm, no foul. Looking at the logs it does spam the server looking for art every 10ms so who knows what impact that might have on the server, your network or the Shield's performance.

I know from time to time I have to power off my HDPVR when it gets slow to start and the quality even gets reduced. It could be the same thing with the Colossus.

I the future for Kodi it would have been better to have the Kodi debug logs, but I don't really like the order that the stop and start commands for timeshift came it. The logic hasn't changed in Matrix for a while so if you have been using the RC then it shouldn't be any different now.
