Kodi 19 client constantly asking for updates from server

Hi

I hope this is the right part of the forum to post this client question to.......

The Kodi 19 client code running on my Shield Android TV box is asking the server for updates every minute through most of the night - check 12 AM March 21 thru 7 AM March 1 - most of the activity is /service (recording.lastupdated)  This seems excessive.  Is this expected, especially when most of the time there are no updates to send to the client per the logs? Is there a setting on the NextPVR client that can control this frequency?

When I kill Kodi on the Shield this does go away as expected.

Computers deal in microseconds not minutes so it is not "excessive", if it wasn't logged you wouldn't notice it.

If you check the kodi debug log

2021-03-20 10:42:15.546 T:10324 DEBUG <general>: AddOnLog: pvr.nextpvr: DoMethodRequest recording.lastupdated 0 107 4

Those last two numbers are 107 bytes sent in 4ms turnaround once every minute.

It's not excessive. It basically Kodi and NextPVR talking every minute to check if there is anything Kodi should be aware of. (like new recordings etc, which would prompt a reload of the recording list in Kodi).

As Martin mentioned, you're only noticing this because we're logging it. You'd be surprised how often software on your computer is talking to other software on the computer, or other devices on the network.
