Is it possible to have an advanced recording that limits to new episodes?  

Is there a list of what things can be used in an advanced recording? I found title and time in the WIKI, but can't find a more complete list.

Assuming you're using Schedules Direct in the states, when you click on a show in the guide, and click 'Advanced', you can set the recording type to 'Record Series (NEW episodes)'.

I am in the states, and I am using Scedules Direct, but, this is for programs that are not in the guide currently. I am trying to migrate from another software PVR. If I can set it to record by tittle, but restrict it to new programs, then this would be easy. But I don't know how to specify 'new' in the advanced field on the manual recording popup.

You should be able to create this rule in Kodi. You could use the current rule as a flag and if a recording shows up in the guide create a normal guide based rule and delete the advance rule.

OK, so if I understand, if I create the rule in KODI, then it will work as expected? I have been playing around with KODI rules, and the only thing found unintuitive was that I had to use title LIKE 'some show'.

In KODI, could I do something like: title LIKE 'Home Town' AND episode >0 for the search field, and then set it to only record NEW episodes, and it should work? This would cover almost all of my use case. Specifying episode >0 will typically keep it from recording specials on these types of shows.

For any advanced rule in Kodi or NextPVR you need to use like if you don't want to match case, otherwise you can use =

For Kodi give it a try and see. The rules in Matrix are improved so hopefully you have upgraded.

In NextPVR's web app, when you go to the Search page, click 'more options', type the name of a show in the title field, hit 'create recording', it'll popup the manual record popup. It'll be set for an advanced recording, with something like:

title like '%The 100k Drop%'

You can modify it to:

Code:

title like '%The 100k Drop%' and first_run = 'Y'

The trouble with that option is apps that use the API like Kodi won't know that is a new recording filter.

Sorry everyone, for some reason, I stopped getting notifications on this thread. Missed the replies. the first_run is what I was looking for, but the warning about Kodi not knowing that is well taken.

I have to decide how I want to manage. I am used to doing it through a website. The only issue I have with using Kodi is that if for some reason I go in and edit the rule that I create in Kodi, the 'new only' option is reset back to 'All' when I save the rule in the web interface. So it looks like I need to stick to one or the other.

Yes true it is possible that the server or the API is not complete or suffered a regression since the web server doesn't exercise that part of the API.
