Hi Martin. on one of the channels i am getting the following response, but using their web (https://www.raiplay.it/dirette/rainews24) if works and the source shows the link as being correct.

I don't know about that URL but that station seems to open with "http://mediapolis.rai.it/relinker/relinkerServlet.htm?cont=1" not geo-locked. It also will not work in VLC confirming the earlier problem.

Not really I just gave you a different URL to try, sub can't change a 503 on the server. 

That being said sub can check his test with this URL  http://mediapolis.rai.it/relinker/relink...User-Agent=... because I do get further

which looks like the response with a 302 return code.  If NextPVR follows the two redirect they both return
