I have been recording a series and after the videos were edited and encoded to a smaller file size, I deleted the original files.  However I have now found some issues and want to record some of the same episodes again.  I know that I can do a "nextpvr.exe -removehistory", to delete the history, but I assume that deletes all history for all recordings.  Is there any way to manually edit this and only delete the history for one show?

Also, how can I prevent this in the future?  Is the only way to do this is to highlight the recording in nextpvr and click "forget" before deleting it?  That is kind of cumbersome if you have tens or even hundreds of recordings.  Is there a better way?  Thanks.

That’s pretty much it. You can either remove all history with -removehistory, or individually with “forget”. There is no other magic option which will do it for you.

Actually if you were using V5 there is a bit of "magic" available. Sub kindly added a feature that I requested a few version ago that allows you to access the contents of the EPG event data when the recording is deleted. I've successfully used a python script I wotre to identify the recordings I want and then use sqilte3 I delete them individually.

If your EPG data is from Schedules Direct in North America there is also manual method available.

My EPG is from Schedules Direct in North America. I really didn't know if there was a good reason to upgrade to V5, but maybe this is it. V4 has been working perfectly otherwise and so I really had no reason to upgrade. But today I read that V5 will install and leave the V4 install in place, so I might give it a try. Thanks.

Thank you.

I used -removehistory and that fixed my problem.

One thing that confuses me is that I have checked my config.xml file and it has the default

<DeletionHistoryDays>90</DeletionHistoryDays>

The original recording was a Feb 17 2021 and the new recording of the same episode is on July 3 2021.  So that is 137 days which is more than the DeletionHistoryDays.  Am I misunderstanding how that works?  I assumed it would forget that it had recorded that episode after May 17th 2021.

AutoRemoveMissingRecordings is also set to "true".

It remembers it for 90 days after you deleted it. (Not since the recording was originally made)

Ok thanks. I definitely deleted the file less than 90 days ago.

This seems to work for the latest NEXTPVR "C:\Program Files\NextPVR\nscripthelper.exe" -pin:xxxx -removehistory
