Hi There,

I'm quite new here, so try my best Smile.

I setup succesfully NEXTpvr.
Simply love it Smile

but i have 1 issue.

The moment i run kodi (watch some tv), 'scheduled new recordings' at that moment does not showing up in Kodi.
Those new recordings, show perfectly up in the webbrowser(nextpvr) and they show up in the NEXTpvr software.
It seems like, if Kodi running NEXTpvr does not push the new 'recording list' information into Kodi.

My Workaround:
If i want to see, 'the newly added recordings' i must close Kodi and restart Kodi, to see the newly added recordings in the Kodi recoding list.

Wondering, is this a known issue?
i run, NEXTpvr Version: 5.1.3.210711
And Kodi Matrix.

VerVersion: 5.1.3.210711sion: 5.1.3.210

I have the same issue but never managed to get the logs when it happens. If you can could you attach both NextPVR and Kodi logs when it happens?

https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?tid=62506

I'm finding it difficult to reproduce

If you mean recordings don't show up while watching TV or another recording that is expected behaviour.  Recordings are only updated while you are not playing unless it is an instant recording of Live TV.

After you exit there could be up to one minute before new recordings or new timer start showing up.

Hi Martin,

Thank you for your quick response.

Yes you are right, it is while watching TV.
At the background, 'the new scheduled' recording started. But the recording is not showing up, while watching TV in kodi.
Close Kodi, start Kodi and the recording is where i should be.

But for my clearification, what is the reason why NEXTpvr does not push the recording to Kodi while watching TV?.

I made a design decision not to poll the server while the streaming to reduce the load on the server and client and reduce the chance of collisions on slower networks. As soon as you stop Live TV any changes (recordings, timers, deletes etc) will show up within a minute, you don't need to exit Kodi. If they don't show up there is another issue.

You don't need to wait for the recording to end though, why not watch it in progress if you are that eager?

Also sub and I have talked about moving to an asynchronous client API and if that happens there will be much better interaction.

Hi Martin,

I understand, thank you for your information.
For now, i'll have to deal with it Smile

Is there anyway, to change this behavior? (edit a parameter in an xml) ?
Maby a magic trick? :p

I am not going to provide an option for interrupting playback to load recordings that start after you started watching something else. Kodi is open source so the magic would be you or another use submitting the option

Wait, what?

Just to be clear, you mean that if a scheduled recording starts while watching live TV or previously recorded show the new recording will not show up in the Kodi recordings list until you stop watching anything for a while?  In other words the recordings list on Kodi does not refresh in the background while watching live TV or another recording?  So you can't switch from one recording to the new recording without stopping all streaming in Kodi for several minutes?  And this is expected behaviour?

I have spent a lot time reading through various forums, rebuilding Kodi and NextPVR, putting Kodi and NextPVR on the same and then different machines, checking firewall rules etc trying to fix this.  And the only way I can get the recordings to update while watching something is to quit and restart Kodi.  And now, if I understand correctly, I learn this is normal behaviour.

I may have misunderstood but some people don't seem to have this issue with some posts suggesting this issue was 'fixed a long time ago' (TriggerRecoringUpdate (kodi.tv)) and 'not a problem on windows' (Recordings not showing (nextpvr.com)).

Don't get me wrong.  I'm generally happy with the Kodi/NextPVR pathway.  I'm trying to get rid of our Sky box (Pace micro) that we use 99% for free to air TV in New Zealand.  But there are a few issues like this that the family get annoyed (low WAF) with that is stopping me from ditching Sky altogether at the moment.

It should load recordings when you finish watching Live TV or a recording between 1 and 60 seconds later. If it doesn't please send debug logs. Not everyone has systems that can handle these updates in the background.

Hi Martin,
I'm not much of a Kodi guru and am learning as I go. I gather from reading these forums that I need to upload the full debug logs using the log uploader addon.  I still need to figure out how that part works.

I have the debug logging working itself, but can you please check these settings in the XML file:

<advancedsettings version="1">
<seeksteps>10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 180, 240</seeksteps>
<loglevel hide="false">2</loglevel>
<setting id="debug.extralogging">true</setting>
<setting id="debug.setextraloglevel">1048576</setting>
</advancedsettings>

I presume you need the '1048576' for PVR addon debugging.

Thanks, Marty.
