I checked the code; it should be deleting them. I log a message in the archiver-MVP (or -PC).log file when deleting but I don't log anything if the file was not found. In the future I will log that as well so we can see what it was looking for and didn't find.

But, maintaining the zip and setup versions is twice the work for me. I do it for the weather plug-in and it is a pain, and the main reason I have not yet released a bug fix on the wiki site.

As to a pictures plug-in, I have thought about it, but haven't decided yet.

Hi Jeff,
I'm having a strange probelm with the Video Archive plugin which I'm hoping you can help with. When VA is installed my CPU jumps to 100% as soon as I start GBPVR. Both the recording service process and the GBPVR GUI process jump to the high 40's percentage wise. As soon as I uninstall the VA plugin CPU drops back to almost nothing. I'm not sure what logs might help in diagnosing this so if you have a moment please let me know and I will post whichever log files are relevant.
thanks,
MVPAAAGH.

This happens becuase the plug-in is scanning all your recordings and dvd directories to build up a list of files. After the initial scan everything is maintained in memory and the CPU usgae will drop back down and stay low. You can reduce (but not completely eliminate) the initial scan time by going into the config application, selecting the video archive plug-in and unchecking the "Load all files and dircetories on initial start-up" option on the Memory tab.

Jeff,
thanks for the prompt reply. I have tried pointing the VA plugin at empty directories and the CPU still hits 100% for at least several minutes. I guess I'm doing something wrong but I can't figure what. Any thoughts?

If you zip up and email me the log files in your jeff subdirectory along with your gbpvr.exe.log file I can take a look. My email is jefflmailbox-gbpvr@yahoo.com.

Thanks Jeff problem solved. As you suggested pointing at the root of C: as the directoty for video files was not the best idea. Being more specific in folder selection cures the problem. Many thanks.

Jeff,
I've searched through the postings here and can't find the answer to this one, so I apologize if this is a duplicate. I've downloaded and installed the latest version of Video Archive, and all seems to work fine from the server. Most features seem to also work fine from my MVP, except for the archive feature. When I attempt to archive a video from the MVP, it states on the screen that it is archiving, the only problem is that it actually isn't, and the statement remains on the screen until I restart the MVP.

My recordings folder is on the same machine that I have GBPVR installed on, but my primary archive folder is on a separate file server on my network. So, I have it mapped on the GBPVR system as the V: drive (V for video). Any ideas why it doesn't work from the MVP? Is there a configuration settings that will get me up and running? Is there a log file that I can check for errors?

Thanks, I appreciate any help you can provide.

I do all my archiving from the postepgupdate.bat file so I don;t test the arciving built into the plug-in all that often but the code it uses is the same as that used by the standalone utility so it should stil lwork fine. Calling from the MVP shouldn't make any difference. It will take a long time to copy a video file so it may just be that you have to wait a bit longer. You should be able to see messgaes in the archier-mvp.log file (or if not that one, look at whatever ones are the newest). You can also zip up the logs in the directory and email them to me and I'll take a look.

Is the VA Panel responsible for showing the little red recording icon on the main menu when an item is recording?
