When choosing a program from the EPG to record once, I get this quite often.  This happens when the show is in progress, but not always.  Recently I was trying to reproduce this, and succeeded both times I tried.  Here is what I did and the results from both attempts.

I have a HDHomeRun Quatro tuner (4 tuners).  To be clear it is the ATSC 1.0 version, not the ATSC 3.

First attempt:
1. I chose a program to record, clicked on it from the EPG
2. I selected Record Once
3. I was returned to the EPG, but the program did not turn red
4. No data was being written to disk.
5. I switched tabs, then back to EPG
6. Still not red, and not recording.
7. I selected a different program to record, clicked on it from the EPG
8. Chose record once.
9. Both programs were now red in the EPG, and writing data to disk.

Second attempt:
1. I chose a program to record. 
2. program turned red and started recording
3. I chose a 2nd program to record
4. program turned red and started recording
5. I chose a 3rd program to record
6. program turned red and started recording
7. I chose a 4th program to record (Hawaii Five-o)
8. program DID NOT turn red, and did not record.

some time elapsed

9. one program stopped recording at 2:30 PM Pacific Time
10. Hawaii Five-o started recording and writing data to disk
11.  Still only 3 of my four tuners in use.  (verified from NextPVR, and from the HDHomeRun web app)
12. Selected a 4th program to record
13. program turned red and started recording

I hope this clears up the confusion from the other thread.  logs attached.

Your logs (on the other thread) showed several database lock issues. Are you doing anything to manage it or clear the SD artwork table while NextPVR is running?

not that I am aware of. I only use Kodi and the web app, and don't open the db in any other application.

Is there a way to rebuild the db? I move recording into another application, so the only thing I would need to save is the subscriptions. I really don't want to have to rebuild that if I don't have to.

I might have mis-understood your question.  I have deleted/replaced some cover art files and fan art files while it was running.  so if that is what you mean, then yes, I have done that. I did not mess with the db though.

I thought you might have been trying to fix the SD artwork table perhaps with the command line. Sorry I can't explain the locks, that would be sub.

that I have not done.  Just deleting/replacing .jpg files in the '/var/opt/nextpvr/media/shows/' directory.

I am having a similar problem (with v5.1.4.210802 and HD HomeRun Quatro) but when selecting recordings via Search. 

I used Search to find 'Blue Thunder' (Great Movies Action 21/08/2021 at 00:50 and like the OP I used the Advanced option to Record Once. It took 3 attempts before the recording request was actioned. I was not doing anything else with NPVR at the time - no database editing, no changing show images etc, I have nothing else which uses the NPVR database other than a remote Kodi installation which is setup to use the latest Kodi NPVR plugin. The Quatro was not doing anything else at this time either, I only use it for NPVR.

I have attached my logs if this provides anything worthwhile.

You too are getting those lock errors with SchedulesDirectArtwork.Clear I think it related to the many invalid URL's that NextPVR has cached from Schedules Direct that really need to be deleted.

I am seeing consistent 30 second timeouts after the forbidden or not found error which does seem http related.

I can readily duplicate this but there is an interesting nuance. It wasn't working on my test Windows PC but then I remember that both of you had linux and sure enough there it seems related to 30 seconds timeout.

Clearing the sd_artwork table, updating the EPG there are still issues even with fresh URL's so it looks like an SD issue.

I would certainly disable SD art on Linux for now.

I suspect it relates to IPTV pirates stealing the SD bandwidth on AWS.
