Done. I'll report back with new logs when there's something of interest. It didn't go wrong last night when following my usual recording/watching routine.

Annoyingly, the 6pm news got renamed (yet again) by TVNZ on Friday so it wasn't recorded then. However, last night I had a new timer for the new name, and I started watching the recording at 6.17pm. All was well until roughly 6.45 when I caught up (or nearly caught up) with the stream. That is, I was nearly or as-good-as- exactly watching the recording live, as it came in. (I frequently end up doing this, it's not normally a big deal though sometimes mildly glitchy).

This time, the stream on the Shield hung, so I backed out. On subsequent attempts to watch it, I could not go past the 50-minute mark in the recording. When I checked my PC this morning, the file is truncated to 660MB instead of the usual 800ish, and indeed stops at 50ish minutes in. Logs attached - I hope they are helpful with the verbose setting.

Given I started watching at 6.17, we can rule out a theory that the truncation is associated with when I started watching.

Note: previous failures like this haven't been associated with catching up with the stream, i.e. I know it's not the primary/only cause of whatever is happening. If there is a smoking gun, it's that the stream truncation, IF it happens, often happens at the 45-55 minute time period - which may somehow relate to Martin's query earlier in the thread about the 40 minute thing. Or not.

Thanks!

I can see the recording stop growing at 18:46:59 but there is no indication what caused this.

Yeah, I've taken a look at it to, and it's not clear to me why data stopped arriving.

I suspect I'm going to need to add some additional logging so we can see the output of ffmpeg.

For the next build, I've added extra logging around this stuff when verbose mode is enabled.

Grand, I'll be sure to use that when available.

Just in case it helps, I had a repeat last night. Started watching the recording at 6.27, so about 30 mins after the recording had started. I got a hang when 29ish minutes in. The recording is truncated at 28:59/411MB. Logs attached.

Just in case I've missed anything - is there a place I should look for the next build other via than the standard "upgrade available" prompt on the settings screen, after which I run NPVRSetup.exe?

Thanks!

They we app would tell you, otherwise you could subscribe to the Announcements forum, so you get emailed when there is a new release.

Things might be different in the next version too if NextPVR doesn't send the mjh links to ffmpeg in the first place.

Also why do you use the Kodi links with NextPVR and not the raw-tv links?

Noted re Announcements, thanks sub.

Apologies Martin, I don't understand your second question if it's directed at me. I use mjh's set of links in NextPVR because they work - I don't know what you mean by raw-tv or "the Kodi links" in this context.

The truncation problem persists, very persistently, and not just in the case of programs I watch while they are recording, it can affect others too. I can't help but think it was somehow related to the Win10 upgrade that happened about the time it started happening (or at least became vastly more common) - but who knows at this point.

BTW, a separate plug-in issue (happy to start a different thread if you prefer): it's often the case that a recording starts but the Kodi plug-in doesn't list it under Recordings, even tens of minutes later. It will show yesterday's show, and the day before - I keep just two around usually - but not the one it started recording half an hour ago. However, it always comes right if I exit and restart Kodi on the Shield.

Cheers!

I have made a change for the next release, so that these mjh links are no longer requiring ffmpeg. Hopefully this will a positive effect on your problem.
