Render from PC to Kodi

hi,

i have a sony bravia 4k tv and a intel nuc5i3ryh. while playing 4k films i noticed the nuc just can not manage it. i heard a friend saying he streams his 4k movies from his computer.

i tried to permit dlna on my windows laptop with i7 processor and to add it as a smb supply in kodi. it could discover the videos first-rate, but, it looks as if kodi handiest streams the movie to render it itself. as my nuc can't cope with this i would want to have my pc render it and stream it to kodi.

might this be viable and do i need to exchange some settings? or could i have to let kodi out of this factor and circulation at once to my television with dlna?

DLNA just does media discovery. There are no settings to have a DLNA source stream the video to another device. I'm really surprised a NUC can't handle displaying a 4K source. A Raspberry Pi can *almost* do it, and that has a much less powerful processor. It's possible your NUC isn't using any hardware decoding. If you're trying to do 4K in software only, that will almost never work, even on a full fledged computer.

This is kind of Kodi specific and not related to NPVR, so you might want to post something in the Kodi forum for better help.

I have an Intel NUC 6i5SYH which I use for NextPVR and Kodi that I think has similar onboard graphics and ports to yours (Mini-DP 1.2; HDMI 1.4b).  I found that I could not get 4K to work reliably on our 75 inch Sony TV if I used the NUC HDMI port.  But the display port has better resolutions.  The spec sheet for your NUC (https://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/pu...-brief.pdf) seems to indicate 4K on the displayport only, like mine.[url=https://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/product-briefs/nuc-kit-nuc5i3ryh-brief.pdf][/url]

So I used a Mini Displayport to HDMI cable and got 4K to work.  But my NUC does not support HDR.  You need one of the newer NUCs for that.
