I have my paddinbg set to 5 mins before and 10 after.

I often find I am recording a show from 8 to 9, then 9 to 10 and 10 to 11, all on different channels.

I have two Tv cards, but very often one card will stop at 9, so the other starts at 9 - the padding seems to be forgotten about.

Should card 1 carry on reocrding show 1, and card 2 just start show 2?

Padding is considered optional and will get dropped if consecutive recordings are scheduled on the same capture source. That being said, if more than 1 capture source is available then GBPVR will schedule consecutive recordings on alternate capture sources so that the padding can be retained. There are situations where this may not happen, but for the most part it works perfectly.

It happened tonight.

Card 1 recorded from 8 till 9 with padding in place

Card 2 recorded from 9 till 10 with no padding

Card 2 is recording from 10 to 11

I expected card 1 to do from 10 to 11. Might there be a reason why that has not happened?

I think the capture sources get allocated at the instance a show is scheduled, in the order that they were entered. So if time opens up in the future, they don't move to a 'better' source.

Thats correct.

There are some situations which will cause a recording to later be moved to a different capture sources, but 'trying to get better use of the padding' isnt one of these situations.
