Have you tried nlite in the past? ie, the older non-dshow one? If so, I assume it was also slow? At the end of the day, the UI is being generated by the server, so any slow down showing the UI should be down to the server rather than the client.

What CPU is in your server, and is it running on Windows or Linux?

It's nice and snappy here, but I've got a pretty fast server.

I just restarted NLite, went to Pending recordings, selected Sort and then there was a big long pause before it responded. I did see one socket error earlier when I started NLite. It connected on the next attempt.

I moved one of the servers to a different location on the network, which made no difference. So neither server seems to make a difference.
I'll be happy to test any suggestions you may have or any additional logging.
Ok, supply a sample video that shows the problem and I'll try playing it here to see what happens.

There is some additional registry settings for getting more detailed logging of play aspects, but it generate excessive amounts of logging and it can get hard to dig through, so I'll try reproducing it here as a first option.

I had used NLite with V4. The skip and rewind didn't work very well, so I didn't use it very often. I'm sure I used it enough to know it worked at least.

And if you do that in nextpvr.exe directly on the server, how long does it take by comparison? ie, is it slow in nextpvr.exe too, or purely an nlite problem?

I'm guessing it's both - nlite has no idea what screen you're on, or what you're doing. It just askes for a picture of the current screen and shows it. It sounds like nextpvr.exe is being slow to load that screen.

Are you using network drives, or other drives that might be asleep and take time to wake up?

My systems are modest shuttle systems. Up till this point, they've been performing well. No issues really on the server side, it records multiple shows without issue. It mainly seems to be the communication between the systems.

If running nextpvr.exe doesn't exhibit the same slow down on that screen as nlite.exe, I'd suggest maybe temporarily try stopping the NextPVR Service on the server, and manually run NextPVRServer.exe on the desktop (ie, instead of as a service), and try nlite again to see if the delay goes away.

Nextpvr is working well, even NLite on the same machine. I'm only testing local recordings across the network, no drives are set to sleep.
I'll try copying a large file from the server to the client.

Do this.

Focus on the same single test each time, rather than giving me random feedback about other stuff.

Ok. Tried to run the service stand along and can't. I'll work on getting you a recording to test with.
