Hi;

I'm attempting to come over from TVHeadend; but running into a few issues.

I'm using the latest docker nextpvr/nextpvr_amd64:stable

All my tuners are detected, and all appears to work (They are able to scan channels. The same setup worked in TVHeadEnd)

However; when opening multiple streams in browser, the first stream will stop once a second is opened. (The tuner just swaps over)

If I attempt this using my TV (Kodi) It just fails.

Am I missing something? I have attempted both copying configurations and also scanning entirely separately, without success

The biggest thing that you are missing are the .zipped logs from the NextPVR Settings page in the web interface.

But you didn't even tell us what kind of tuners you have!

Are these on the same machine, in the same browser? If so, they're likely the same session, and there is only one active stream per logged in session.

You should be able to open a private/incognito browser window though, login, and get a second stream going. Realistically though, watching in a browser means transcoding, which can be hard on a PC, and might not be what you're wanting. (understand you're probably just trying to test stuff at this stage)

For it not working in Kodi, we'd probably need to see the logs. Viewing in kodi will be much easier on your machine, since no transcoding is required. (ie "directplay")

OK. Thanks for the pointers....Getting a little more info

As you described, using incognito (I used multi-containers - firefox) I'm able to play two streams in browser, though as you mentioned, it stutters every so often....Presumably due to CPU usage. Seems to play two streams though

As above though; if anything is playing in browser it appears to stop Kodi from working .

I'll have a look through the logs

Yeah, that is likely the case. The web browser is a nice way to check things, schedule, and watch from time to time if you know you've got the CPU head room (or using a source that doesn't required transcoding to view in the browser). Most people would end up using a directplay style client for day to day usage though. (options vary depending on the platform you're using as you client)

This is a common activity, and shouldn't cause any issues. They're in separate sessions, and should continue independently. If you want to post the logs we'll help you have a look through it.

Sorry - Couldn't find anything but I'll post them.

I will post them (nrecord? 1-4 ?)

I did just notice that it now appears only two now appear to work (2 in a browser, kodi won't work. 1 in browser, 1 in kodi will now work)

As you say; I'm only using web-browser for testing setup really, it is unlikely to ever be used.

Would high CPU usage due to web-browser transcoding send an error to Kodi when switching?

It's usually best to use the 'log files' button in the Settings screen. It'll flush the latest log messages to disk, and zip them up for you, ready for uploading.

Hmm, I wouldn't think so...but you never know.

Technically you shouldn't post logs, you should post the zip file that NextPVR creates for you to upload.

There is often a bug in NextPVR if you copy the scan file in linux, we can see that from the logs. It might be worth zipping and uploading the 4 conf files in the config folder.

Let me try that now...

Not sure on the CPU thing, as I tried it with recordings rather than viewing in browser.

When I click 'Device Status' you can see that it's attempting to do 3 recordings under a single turner; when there should be 2 more doing nothing
