I updated to the January update, which has two layout changes.  Menu now splits Recordings, Scheduled Recordings, What's New.  Used to just hit the arrow key and go through each, now it takes more strokes.

Second change is to a graphic display of recorded shows.  The pictures aren't needed, and take up a lot of real estate.

Any way to revert these two changes back?

<RecordingsView>classic</RecordingsView>

While showing art does take up real estate that is the standard for all media players. You actually get more shows now, before there was only 7 shows per screen.

F8/F9/F10 are hotkeys between these screens should you actually want to change. As more people move to scheduling in the web interface the split makes sense, no one has mentioned moving scheduling under recording there.

Thanks.

I made that change to the config-master-dont-edit file in the config directory, but nothing changed.

With the text, I can quickly scroll down, with the graphics it takes more remote clicks.

"config-master-dont-edit.xml"... the "dont-edit" bit should have been a clue.

The file you're looking for is config.xml, in c:\users\public\NPVR-data\

Don't change master, change it in NPVR-Data

Down on the remote should move the equivalent of five clicks at a time it not clear why you think it takes more clicks?

I do see if you scroll with the left right it doesn't change rows though so you do need to know the row.

Got it.

In the old Recordings screen I can hold the down arrow and scroll quickly down the list. On the new layout it doesn't go to the bottom unless you're in a column that has the bottom row in it, or use page down. You have to go down, then over, instead of just down. More pushes on the remote.

The F8 F9 F10 doesn't help because you have to use a keyboard, and with two hands, instead of the remote. And, with the remote I can hit left or right arrow and go through What's New, Pending, Reoccurring, Conflicts, and Ready without having to go back to the main menu.

I'm old school, I switched from WMC to NPVR over other options expressly because I do not like graphical UIs.

But you can because you gave the ability to switch back, which is much appreciated.

It has been awhile but I forget up the various grid scrolling issue in NextPVR. Hopefully sub can get those ironed out.

You need to get a remote with number keys, percentage jumps are the way to go.

The config option <RecordingsView>classic or modern</RecordingsView> is an all or nothing setting.  I really like the new menu layout with What's New and Pending there but I really dislike the Ready Recordings graphical display and I would like the list.

Is there any way to have the new menu layout but the Recordings showing as a list?

Thanks,
Stanno
