In comparison with the Roku, MPEG ts file playback support is excellent, live TV starts quickly and you get built in AC-3 support.

I do have to agree with Martin that the uidroid client on the ONN device and the TiVo Stream 4K makes an excellent NextPVR client. And the remote with the TiVo with the number buttons is great. That has been my go-to, daily driver client since before it was released.  Big Grin  And if you can get a TiVo for $15 (or even $20 or $25), grab as many as you can!

It a bit hard to side load on the ONN device so it not good option for cord cutter with no internet.

Importantly  this thread is about the Roku, the private channels and Roku in general require the internet.  I am not aware how Emby and Jelllyfin might be be able to run in this situation, I know my Roku won't even let me use it if I don't connect to the Internet for checking firmware etc.   In any case I have no interest in support Roku for non-internet clients anyway.

For sideloading you might be thinking about the ONN Roku device.  We are talking about using Android as an alternative to Roku so that would be the Android ONN TV Box which is trivial to use for sideloading.  If you have trouble with it post in the appropriate forum.

I refer to onn. Android TV UHD Streaming Device which is what he was refer to which has no MicroSD support so there no way to side load NextPVR app in off gird situation with no internet not Roku nor a TV set and yes it sad to see Roku NextPVR Client apps go bye, bye.

Like I said post support questions in the proper forum. You don't need to sideload via SD card you can sideload via USB. Of course If you can see install and run a NextPVR server off-grid you can install the APK via wifi too.

It became a support question when you posted a totally baseless statement that it is not easy to sideload an apk to the ONN device.

From a Roku perspective I am looking at a strategy to allow some users to continue to use some Roku device but they are far from the best clients for the NextPVR but I need some support from sub on the forum. I don't want to spend a lot of time supporting it could mean dropping support for the low end Roku devices if I have too, hence the suggestions to use low end Android devices.

Ok I have moved your posts and would be happy to hear what is going actually wrong enabling developer mode and using adblink to install the apk is not working for you.

It should work fine with USB and wifi.
