Ok, this version 1.0.9 has wtv metadata importing too, I haven't decided if I will keep feature that since not all players handle wtv files. I likely won't be releasing 32bit versions in the future either, I am hoping the portable version will run with the standalone dotnet.

I strongly recommend you use the actual case for the folder on the command line. I figure you want C:\Movies and not c:\movies. For filenames this isn't a problem, but I can't guarantee how sub does database lookups.

Hint: Use tab completion to enter the folder names.

So when I did the import the first time it worked fine, but now not.

---chain of events-----

I had a couple of episodes of Yellowstone recorded by NextPVR so the folder was already there.
when I did the first import I moved the rest of the episodes into a "Movies" folder on the same hard drive and ran Nexttool tool
and all of the episodes were put in the previously made folder so that was great.

Next I put about 10 movies into a sub folder in "Movies" called "movies" when I ran the tool again I got what you see in the photo.
There still isnt a folder called Movies in the recordings of NextPVR and no movies were imported.

----End of chain of events-----

Did I do something one of the 2 softwares didnt like? I could have swore I read that when you run the tool it will ignore things that were already in recordings and add everything not already there.

what exactly did you mean by an NFO file? what is it, what does it do and what is the format?

Advice?

NextTool will not import files if they have the same name in a different folder.

Maybe if you upload the logs I can give you more info.

I expect you should be able to do a web search to find out what NFO files are. I also made a post here where I offered a few suggestions https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...#pid565682 I'm still hoping for sub to split that thread from post #25 to make it a little easier to find.

If your movies and series following normal files for filenaming you won't need that unless you want descriptions, episode names etc.

Isn't Yellowstone a series?

While waiting for a reply I did some playing, basically playing with case and cleared out all movies except 1 so the logs I expect to be a bit different than what previously stated.

Ran the tool and got same results though

File format for the file is   50 FIRST DATES.mp4.... that is exactly as it appears in the folder.

There still isnt a folder called Movies in the recordings of NextPVR and no movies were imported.

The NextPVR "Recordings" sections and database are really more intended for shows or "individual movies". It doesn't matter what sort of file tree you have in your filesystem--the "Recordings" section "Folders" are determined by the name of the recording, not the physical folder where it is stored. So, each movie file will show up as a separate movie "folder" in NextPVR.

I really think that what you want is to use a uiclient and go to the Videos screen with it pointing to a folder of movies that you've grouped into folders for your organization and presentation. With this approach, you don't have to do any importing into the NextPVR recording database. It will simply display video files that it finds in the specified Video directory/directories.

I will have to check my logging since it should be giving a message why it skips file but I can tell you that 50 FIRST DATES.mp4 is too generic, the filename needs to follow standard naming conventions shared by Plex, Kodi, Emby etc. I am surprised that Mezzmo which you used doesn't have similar rules. Edit I found this link http://www.mezzmo.com/wiki/doku.php?id=s..._filenames I don't support generic filenames.

I wanted to avoid import a log of crap videos. I assume it will work if it is named 50 First Dates (2004).mp4 I did create an RFC for the Import functionality but I didn't get much feedback, so you live with my logic now.

A good name will also help NextPVR get art for your movies and series.

For random media file playback UI clients are better as Brett suggested.

Martin, thanks for the info and the help. I will try the suggested format stated above and see if it works

Brett,
I have been running Mezzno with roku and love that but I have moved to andriod with kodi as a front end to nextPVR so having the all in one was very appealing but if I must use a different videos addon for kodi I would be fine with that to... any recommendations?

I did try the Mezzmo addon but its very buggy and doesnt sync audio and video all the time. Since Mezzmo is a udp server I would think it wouldnt be hard to find one to work with it. Worst case scenario I could abandoned Mezzno and just have the movie drive in a shared location on my file sharing computer I guess.

FYI.....Just added the year to 5 first dates and loaded just fine. no I need to decide if I want that much scrolling in recordings as the list of movies is cresting 600 movies now. Is there any way of grouping once the are imported?

I think right now the only filtering on PVR recordings is via UI clients directory filtering. Recording are not really for video collectors, that is, again, why Brett was talking about the UI client video library.
