Hi All,
Is there any way to change the 'channel header style' in the web app for v5?

As you can see its a little messy for longer channel names and in some case the logo seems to be quite small?

FYI... I've edited the config.xml to show only icon's for the desktop app but it doesn't reflect in the web app and TBH i'd prob use different settings in the web version anyway..

Regards

There isn't currently an equivalent feature in the web app.

What would you want to show there instead?

Just curious, what resolution and browser zoom are you running there? In my browser here, it's usually got quite a bit of space, but yes I'm aware people can be running lower resolutions, or have resized their browser window to be quite small, or use large fonts.

Hi sub,

Actually you've hit on something i always forget about... my nextpvr rig is also my main HTPC connected to a projector @ 1080p, so i do have windows scaling set to 150%, i changed the scaling back to 100% and yes you are right (as always) there is plenty of room.

However just as a preference i would like to be able to only see the channel no and logo (with some slight increase in sizing)
I do understand, as you stated elsewhere, the web app is not meant to be a 10ft option, but i think it works pretty well this way overall... would just be nice to have some flexibility in the channel headers.  Big Grin

regards

Hi sub (and any ex XSuite/CDK Scheduler users).

I've upgraded my HTPC and installed V5 for the first time (looks nice). The only issue I ran into is the General setting "Channel Header" from the desktop app isn't reflected in the web app or kodi. In V5 my channel names start with the number so it displays eg. "708 - 708 NFLNTCH" wasting space and looks quite annoying. In my case I was expecting and would have been happy with the same setting affecting both apps.

In kodi's nextpvr addon the guide also shows "708 708 NFLNTCH". The kodi app is my go to when in bed which is most of the time.

I have a feeling that in V4 channel names were "NFLNTCH (708)" so "708 NFLNTCH (708)" would get displayed and the ending mostly clipped off to "708 NFLNTCH (".

Cheers.

That's normal - that setting only applies to the desktop application.

The web app may eventually get something similar.

It's entirely up to kodi to decide what channel names are displayed like there.

What EPG source are you using? It looks like they have the channel number as part of the channel name.

It's a very old free script that generates an xmltv.xml file. To get the NextPVR channel icons to work going from V4 to V5 I had to rename them from eg. "NFLNTCH (708).gif" to "708 NFLNTCH.gif" so yes the names have channel numbers inside but V4 was moving it to the end and adding parenthesis.

If the desktop app setting "Channel Header" equivalent doesn't exist for the web or kodi clients there is no free fix. I'll have to look at fixing the epg to get rid of the extra number.

Thanks for the help.

Can you change your script to use a different generator-info-name? NextPVR parses a few zap2xml and mc2xml I know of. There was a discussion on this here https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...#pid530728

Thanks @mvallevand. Turns out the script outputs multiple display-name tags and NextPVR uses the first one. Adding the -F argument fixed the double channel number everywhere without the need for the "Channel Header" setting.

This thread is about web app header style so my wish would be for the web app guide settings to have a "Channel Header" setting just like the desktop app has.

That must be a change because NextPVR used to support zap2xml properly.

In the spot-on link you shared in post #7 above, sub says he made a tweak for zap2xml. I do remember losing all my channel icons after a V4 update a few years back and had to append the channel number in parenthesis to all the channel icon files to get the icons back (format described in posts 4 and 6 above). Things worked but looked a little funny in V4 "708 NFLNTCH (708)".

In V5 the number is prepended without parenthesis instead of appended "708 708 NFLNTCH" looking a lot funny but still working. Had I known about the zap2xml -F switch back then I could have gotten the icons back without renaming a bunch of files. Conclusion: zap2xml users should use the -F switch with latest V4 or V5 instead of the zap2xml default.
