I found the above quote from Sub in a November 2019 post.

However if aa video is imported, say from a DVD, into NextPVR should it still be in TS format. The video is not being recorded or broadcast so those features / benefits the TS format offers are needed / required for the imported video. The TS file is almost 3 times larger than and MP4 / M4V for example.

If TS doesn't have to be used what is the best one, taking both video quality and file size into account. I am hoping to be able to maintain both chapter and subtitle information from the DVD. I have included an image from the software I am using that includes the formats I have to choose from.

Thank You

It really depends on what client you want to use, NextPVR.exe should handle most containers that LAV handles but I am pretty sure I already suggested faststart mp4 or mkv That was so they can play in the web client and on the Roku client. I don't know how sub's platform specific clients work. NextPVR via Kodi will handle all formats well to but the incorrect duration you use will be an issue at the end.

In another post I was curious why you picked m4v simply because that is generally an Apple proprietary format.

Regarding size, ts containers won't be that much bigger then mp4 or mkv but I suspect your software is also transcoding to h264 and potentially adjusting bitrate for the smaller files size.

As I said in my other post, I had no problem correcting that and believe I have in the last xml I posted

That was what hand break defaulted too. Researching MP4 and M4V, I learned that there was really no difference between the two. To from one to the other really could be done by renaming the file and changing the extension, so I didn't see a big deal.

Martin.

It is using h264, I can also use mpeg-4. Which is better?

For audio I can us AAC, AC, EAC, MP or FLAC. Which is better

I want to make sure I get it right so I do not have to do this again!

Because of personal preference there is no best, that is why you see so many choices. I already told you here https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...#pid573301 what you need for the web player.
