Hi there! Had one of three recordings fail yesterday with the old [Failed: No errors, but no data delivered. This is usually because the device failed to lock a signal.] error. At the time my internet had gone out. I reset the modem and router to fix the internet problem; and scheduled another recording a 1/2 hour later and that recorded fine no problem.

I use an old legacy Silicon Dust HDHomeRun Dual tuner connected to my router. Both the Tuner and NextPVR are up to date.

In the past with Windows Media Center even if my internet was out, the HDHomeRun would still function and record. So I am wondering if this is something I need to be aware of with NextPVR?

Logs attached.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Attached the zipped logs from the web setting page. If they are over 2MB you will need an external link.

You logs don't go back far enough, but since you didn't restart NextPVR since the 14th, my assumption is the router problem impacting the Internet also impacted connections to the HDHR device. Legacy mode would be the same BDA communication that WMC uses.

Thanks for the reply, Martin.

So then basically it was the router problem that caused the tuner to fail to lock? So in the future if my internet is out can I expect recordings to fail? I ask as I never experienced this before with WMC. There were many times where my internet was out, but WMC would still lock a signal on the HDHomerun and record the program.

My setup is: Antenna -> HDHomeRun -> Router -> Router physically connected to PC running NextPVR

So even if there was no internet connection, wouldn't all the connected devices on the router still converse and share files without the internet as they are all on the same network? Or is the NextPVR "Service" an internet dependent service such that if there's no internet it does not function?

Just trying to source and understand the problem, and a work around as my Spectrum internet service can be unreliable. Would a newer tuner help do you think?

Any help is appreciated!

It should work just like WMC but if you want a definitive answer unplug the Internet WAN side of your router and do a test.

It shouldn’t need the internet to record.

As Martin suggested, you can easily unplug your internet to test that theory.

Good idea! I will unplug the router and schedule a test record.

If it works, then I guess this was a one-off glitch where the router & internet problem caused the failure to lock a signal? Could it have something to do with this being an older tuner?

Also ran across this while researching the issue.
