Unable to install ssPlus

I'm a new(bie?) user with a fresh install of NextPVR (V 6.1.1.221106) on a Windows 10 machine, and am trying to install ssPlus. The install fails with the message: Error DataDirectory, and when I exit that popup it reports DataDirectory Registry Error, and then reports that it's been successfully installed in .

I tried rerunning as administrator with the same result.

I noticed that that per the wiki the latest version of ssPlus is 1.2.0, but the date on the .exe embedded in the zip install is 8/12/2012. Am I working with the correct version?

Any suggestions for what to try next would be very welcome.

Add-on are no longer supported in NextPVR.

Sorry, these old plugins were for NextPVR v4 and earlier. They're incompatible with the current versions of NextPVR.

Well, that explains a lot <g>

I poked around in the wiki a bit and discovered that the screen saver feature should be able to do what I want. But when I configure RandomPhoto with the inactivity timer set to 1 minute, the screen saver never starts up, either in the nextPVR opening screen or with video playback paused. Am I understanding how this should work correctly?

Also, possibly its not my place to say, but I think something on the https://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php...gin.Plugin page saying that user plugins are deprecated for new versions of NextPVR would be helpful.

FYI, that is an old wiki, no longer maintain. When you click the 'Wiki' link at the top of this page, it takes you to the current wiki for v5/v6/etc https://github.com/sub3/NextPVR/wiki

We are always looking for users to contribute to the current wiki and move some of the relevant content to the new format but thus far no one has really stepped up on the NextPVR.exe side  which is my this page links to the old wiki https://github.com/sub3/NextPVR/wiki/player-settings.  You will notice this new page is quite different.  Feel free to do the updates and I can post them for you.

Regarding image based screen saver did you add a pictures folder in the setting so NextPVR can get your art?  Generally you need high quality pictures.

I just tested the built in NextPVR.exe client screensaver option RandomPhoto & all it displays is a white rectangle randomly around a black screen on the other hand the FullscreenRandomPhoto does display random photos & is usable as a screen save..... SSPlus it's not but......

I have white screen in UI client but NextPVR.exe was working ok.

I just checked and you were right. I've fixed this for the next build.

The slide show now seems to be working for me. I started experimenting selecting Pictures from the main menu, and every time I did the client crashed. When I reduced the number of files in my pictures directory from about 950 to 10 everything started working.

Is there a specified limit for the number of images? I certainly don't need 950, but I'd like to have as many as is possible for variety.

If I've stumbled on an actual bug, I can do a binary search to find out at what point it fails.
