You can set <LogPowerManagement>true</LogPowerManagement> in config.xml to collect some more info in the logs.

Thanks for that Sub ... so I added that line under <Settings> in config.xml after stopping the service.  I deleted old logs and restarted the service and rebooted for good measure.  After reboot, NextPVRServer.exe is not present in powercfg -requests as expected.   I then watched Live TV using NextPVR Client and exited ALT-F4 after a while.  A new powercfg -requests shows NextPVRServer.exe still having a wakelock, despite no active streams or reason I can see, the wakelock is still present an hour later, it will stay like that until the service is restarted. Log files are attached, made an hour after exiting the client.  Computer is set to sleep at 30 minutes ... obviously it never did due to the wakelock present.  Anything to glean from the new log?

I still don't see any message from Windows telling NextPVR to sleep.

Hi guys

I have exactly the same problem that is driving me nuts. I joined the forum just for trying to find a solution to it.

There is no much to add to what @Radar73 says, the problem is radically simple to explain:

- No matter how long ago I stopped watching TV, and send TV to sleep, the PC where Im running NextPVR NEVER goes sleep, and this PC is dedicated to NextPVR.

- It is the only factor that prevents the PC to sleep, since the day that I configured the NextPVR service to start automatically (strange though that I had to do this for making the server work). It was set to Manual after NextPVR installation.

- I'm running the client KODI from the Android smart TV, and the server, as said, in a separate mini-PC Windows 10 dedicated to record and timeshift TV, and of course to provide live TV to my not-so-smart TV that comes with a crappy TV application and guide, and is unable to record/timeshift as TV brochure promised.

Today I set up a timer to shutdown the pc after some inactivity time, not ideal at all but the only solution I found for the moment.

I will subscribe to the thread, hoping you find a solution, because the problem is real.

Thank you all.

There is a always a need for logs, other posts without them don't help. NextPVR has very little control over Windows sleep, there are recent post showing NextPVR is going to sleep when it shouldn't. Sometimes depending on the configuration, any network activity could keep it running.

The install does set the service to Automatic (delayed) the first time you install it.

I know Martin, I dont have right now the ability to capture the logs properly, I'll have a look when I can and will post it.

Is just that the guy reported that problem exactly as I see it and caught my attention

I tried disabling wake on lan in the client if I remember well, and touched everything I could that I thought it could prevent nextpvr to stop

In my case the service was set to Manual. I remember very well because I was getting crazy to see that after I installed it, there was no way at all to make it work. I found a similar problem googling somewhere and found a guy with the same problem and with the solution. Until then I spent hours trying to figure out what was happening.

Thanks

This thread is effectively dead unless the OP updates it, as I posted nothing much NextPVR can do.

The logs should be easily available from the NextPVR main setting page on the server web page. Just download the zip file it creates for you and attach them.

Sorry allow me please to give a very specific detail about this scenario:

This systematically happens every time there are files left in the timeshift/record folder (either .map, .ts or both) after the PVR client stopped working. (dont know why they are not cleared).

Rebooting the system or stopping/starting the service, clears the files and system goes to sleep when is time to.

What would be the optimal time to capture in the logs then?

- the moment that Client PVR stopped playing
- the moment that the system tries to go sleep

Thanks

If the live TV feels are being left it is potentially a different problem.

Start with sending your current logs.

Hi Martin,

Just to let you know, and probably may be of help for the OP as well, I "solved" the problem.

I'm using PVR Client in Kodi running on an Android TV (Google TV) and PVR server in a minipc with a dedicated SSD for record/timeshift.

So it looks like the client is keeping the server awake, don´t know why. Even without playing/recording anything.

The TV has a fast start mode, that is a sort of very light sleep mode, I imagnined that in this mode many things keep running or whatever. So in this scenario, the TV was keeping the PVR server awake.

I changed the TV start mode to normal, it takes longer to start of course, but in this mode, when the TV is sleeping looks like is sleeping for real, and is not keeping the pvr awake so this way the mini pc is going to sleep always.

I know the program awaken that caused this is the PVR server because as explained before, if I stop the service I dont have any pc sleep issues.

So for the moment this works for me, I know is not a very deep technical analysis but...

Regards
