Could you tell the link to the LE forum thread?
Note I have the same issue with an astrometa usb on Debian with kernel 6.

Here you got https://forum.libreelec.tv/thread/27042-...-problems/ and while there is no solution it won't help your problem.
The astrometa tuners aren't great quality, but you do need to search out threads on setting up RealTek RTL2832 devices properly on Linux to get /dev/dvb working. rtl-sdr might have disabled it. Martin

Hi, just to update people reading this, after a several days of working ok on windows these tuners have started to playing up again. They just fail that initial tune in, switching to a few other channels then back again usually sorts it (not always) but once they do decide to tune in they are stable, no break up of the picture or anything.
I've tried clean installs, Intel NUC, Rpi4, Windows all the same. My tv signal may not be perfect but works fine on all the normal TVs I have, it could be a combination of slightly less than perfect signal and these cheap tuners. Am I better off investing in a new tuner stick like the "Hauppauge WinTV DualHD TV" or maybe upgrading the TV aerial. Are there any other options? Limited budget I'm afraid and I don't want to do all this and find its still unreliable. I'm assuming others can run LE and Next PVR and it is 100% reliable?

Poor signal definitely won’t help you get perfect performance.
Do you have any splitters you can temporarily remove to see how the improved signal helps? TVs usually have better tuners than you get in the small USB sticks.

There's a distribution amplifier, I could try removing it and connect direct to the aerial, the problem is with the issue being so intermittent I can't really leave it disconnected for long enough to do a proper trial (the rest of the household will complain).

That would imply - perfect dvb subsystem in Linux - perfect usb subsystem if applicable. - perfect custom LE implementation - perfect linux drivers - perfect firmware blobs - perfect tuning files Those are reasons why LE recommends networked tuners SAT>IP and Silicondust HDHR However I use Hauppauge on Linux and I am quite happy with it. One you have that then there are going to be bugs in TVHeadend and NextPVR. NextPVR seems to be under more active development but TVHeaded has head start in Linux and an advantage to developers in Europe. Then there are fundamental issues to consider, signal, weather, re-tuning and user error (power off restarting during recordings) Bottom line you probably will have failed recordings. Martin

ok thanks, so to conclude I just bought the 'Hauppauge WinTV DualHD' , time will tell but so far it seems to be working absolutely fine.
(anybody want a pair of August DVB-T210 going cheap give us a shout, you might have more luck with them than I did ) |
