Hello All,

Here is the situation and my way of thinking, and it should work but first tests did not work.

Situation:
I am running my NPVR server with 4 OTA ATSC tuners at my location and working great.
A relative is running a NPVR sever with OTA ATSC tuners in another state at his location.
I have channels he doesn't and he has channels I don't..... we would like to share them with each other.
We have already set things up so that the servers can be accessed from outside our local networks.
He can access mine and I can access his in kodi, but changing between the 2 in kodi all the time is kind of a pain.
I did some searching on exporting the M3U channel list and got them but when I try to create an M3U channel on the other end I get transcoder exited error when I try to view it.

Here is what I used for setting up the M3U channel..... https://hosting ip address/port*passcode/channel info pulled from the M3U export
Is there something I am missing or am I going about this all the wrong way?
We are using noIP as a dnns.

Hopefully I have covered everything needed for the help I would need. If I forgot something please let me know.

Thanks in advance,
F.

If you both are using Kodi 20 then that allows multiple instances which seems to do what you want.

Thanks for the reply Smile

We haven't tried Kodi 20 cause of the issues I read on some of the threads here. 19.8 has been very stable and working great on our ONN boxes.
We are kind of skiddish to try 20 and thought this may be the better way to go.....if we are able to get the bugs worked out....LOL

From pvr perspective 20 is better and certainly better than what you will experience with the m3u. You even get to share recordings.

How many support posts do you read from happy Kodi users though? I once read there were more than 30 million.

Fair enough,

But what about other front ends?  Roku? uidroid?
Are there plans to make these capable of this also?

I think this would be a useful thread for others that may want to do the same thing.

No plans, but I did try to make it easy for the Roku and Android client to switch to a saved profile from the remote. In this scenario I would hope both of you would donate.

Using the m3u method requires leaving your server wide open to everyone on the Internet so it will depend on VPN and firewalls for security, and I don't want to be part of that conversation.

I can attest to the fact that switching servers with uidroid (and previously with Roku) via this method works pretty well to select between servers.
