I have a problem where if I am in live TV mode on the MVP, I can use the skip forward/backward buttons and they work as expected. However, once I press the pause button, I then can no longer do anything other than play or pause, skipping forward/backward doesn't work.

I looked through the gbpvr log, and I can see where gbpvr gets the skip commands and calculates what position (in seconds) to jump to, but then just continues to send the next chunk of the file instead of changing offsets.

I'm using the latest gbpvr and the latest hauppauge drivers for my pvr-150, and the 2.4 23104 beta mvp software (is that even used by gbpvr?). I've tried the hauppauge and intervideo drivers, enabling/disabling live preview (don't think this matters on the mvp), and various other things to no avail.

Since the skip buttons work before hitting pause, and the gbpvr process gets as far as calculating where to skip to, but then continues from its current position in the file, it seems like this is a bug.

here's what I assume are the important log lines, but I can send the whole thing if needed:

Code:

I am also having this problem, though I am totally new to this whole setup. Any suggestions from anyone?

the best thing I can suggest is to record the show using "quick record", then wait a few seconds, try to watch some live TV, and when it asks if you want to watch whats being recorded, say yes. Then it seems to deal better. Its a kludge, an actual solution would be nice

However, then you get into the problem with that if you're watching something on the MVP as its being recorded, gbpvr doesn't seem to recognize that the length of the show increases, so the duration displayed at the top doesn't change, and forwarding past the displayed duration doesn't work, and the longer you watch it, skipping forward/backward will start to jump to seemingly random places. You have to stop watching, then go back and re-start watching the show, forward yourself to where you left off, and repeat the process when you catch up to the end again.

What version are you running? v0.94.13 will continuously re-read the during when playing back files that are still recording. I've just double checked here and its definitely updating the duration on the screen. Older versions dont do this.

much better w/ v0.94.13! thanks sub, the recent flurry of fixes/features (this, screen saver, better comskip, etc.) and the improved UI responsiveness (esp. the program guide on the MVP) are great!

When browsing the program guide, if i.e. the time is 5:35, can it automatically select the 5:30 show if applicable instead of the 5:00 show as you scroll through the channels? Also, is there any way to page forward/backward in time w/ a remote? I can page thru channels but not time...

Finally, I think your forum software is config'd wrong. It emailed me a notification of your post with the url: http://forum.gbpvr.com/forums/showthread...to=newpost I think it should be http://forums.gbpvr.com/showthread....

If you have the 45 button remote you can press the CH+/- (Page Up/Down on keyboard) to jump a page at a time, or on the 34 button remote you can use the blue/green buttons. Or you can just type channel number and press enter.

Yes that works great w/ the 34 button remote for paging vertically in the guide thru channels, but what about paging horizontally thru time? I.e., I'm currently looking at channel 1, I can hit the green button to go down to channel 7 or so.

BUT, What I'd like to be able to do is hit maybe the red button and go forward 2 (or 4?) hrs in time, or hit the yellow button and go backwards in time. Or is there some existing shortcut to say "jump to 10pm"?

I had a very similar experience last night. We started watching a show that had been actively recording for almost 30 minutes. At one point during playback I hit pause, and then realized at the next commercial break that "skip" wasn't working. I eventually had to return to the main menu in order to get things working normally again.

We hadn't caught up with the recording yet, so I don't think that was the problem.

Here's the section from the log where the problem started to appear:

Code:
