You could see if the attached updated NPVRTSReader5.ax helps with the issue where you had a stuttering start to playback of some recordings in nextpvr.exe. It also has some improvements around audio/video sync.

Done.  Happy to say so far the breakup at the start problem is gone.  Not only are all the shows starting normally but the new version of that  *.ax file seems to fixed the stuttering problem when jumping forward or back etc.   I only have a few shows still available right now but all of them now work fine with the new ax file.  While testing the new file, I started a few new recordings and had three recordings running and then checked playback of all the previously finished recordings.   So the system was recording 3 shows while I was starting and playing the ones that were finished.  Even started to watch from the beginning a show that was in the progress of recording.  In other words the system was being taxed as much as possible and still the playback was perfect in all areas.

It might be a little early to call it fixed as I've only been testing for about 30 minutes. But so far I can NOT break it under any conditions.  Hooray !!    I currently have a few test recording running.  Later today I'll double check them.  I think that updated ax file fixed it.   Thanks.

I've been playing all day with NextPVR.exe.  Works great now.  Thanks .. BTW, I had thumbnails generation turned OFF for the last few days. Earlier this morning I turned it back on and have it set to it's thumbnail generation at the end.  Made several recordings and tested playback and used the thumbnail option to jump positions etc.  That also works great.   Before the new *.ax file was installed  trying to move the playing position during playback almost always resulted in delays and jitters etc.  I do a lot of manual "commercial" skipping and now that the program can smoothly jump ahead and back etc. I like having those thumbnails.  Nice visual aide when scrubbing thru the timeline. 

Still have that navigation problem that is causing a lot of problems.  At this point I guess I should start a new thread for that problem ??

As I posted earlier you are probably better off with the while recording option for thumbnails since it is throttled a bit especially with multiple recordings. Also if you cancel a sports recording early there won't be thumbnails at all.

Ah I don't recall (or probably forgot when I read it earlier) about the thottling during recording.  I "assumed" by doing the thumbnail processing after a batch of concurently reocding shows ended, it would take some of the processing load off the system.  I guess it's actually only grabbing one frame about every 10 seconds ??  And videos are all just transport treams with no encoding etc. and I'm probably over thinking this.  <grin>   I'll set the thumbs gen back to real time.   Thanks for the tip.

I can't answer that but your logs earlier showed you doing exactly this.  I expect one example would be recording the post game show in case the game goes long.

Sports is a good use case for parallel thumbnails and timing files as you have better control over viewing in-progress recordings.

Ah well for past few weeks I've been doing a LOT of stuff I normally do not do while testing .  Sometimes I have sometthing going on while testing and have gotten the result I  needed and then just "cancel" that test session in the middle of doing something.   So logs are gonna show a lot of stuff that is not normally being done.    

However, you refereneced a show often "canceled" ( a Mets baseball post game show )    Actually you WILL see that come up often in my logs.    I record all the NY Mets ball games.   Almost all are airing on the SNY channel.  ALL the Mets  games  on SNY ALWAYS have a "post game" 1l2 hr show that airs immediaetly after scheduled end of the actual game.  So I have that "post game" show set up to auto record any time it airs.    I do that because both the "game" recordng and  that "post game " recordings are LIVE events.

Both are set to auto record.  Game is  normally 2 hours.  Post game 1/2 hour.   Now I have set up and recorded a 2 1/2 hour combined  time slot comprising of the GAME followied by the POST GAME .  I'm not really inerested in the post game .. only  the game.   So if the game end ends early or AT it's designated time, after Watching that game recording I'll either cancel or delete the  game AND the post game show.    

OR if the  game has run over it's recorded time slot, I'll watch it, delete it and then watch the rest of the game as it was recorded on the "post game" show.   I've never figured out how to get that optional "sports shows auto extend "thing to work   Haven't looked at that in years.   And setting up the regular game recording parameters by PADDING the end by 30 or more minutes used to sometimes cause problems (long ago when I first set this up)    I just found having all the POST GAME shows auto record normally for some reason has always worked best for me.    I now never miss any "extra inning" or extended Mets games.  FWIW most of my ways of doiing things were originally devised and set up long before vs 6 of Nextpvr and in fact during the last year or so of the GPVR era when I was originally using the SnapStream PVR program.

FWIW, I also normally start watching a live game around 30 minutes or so after it started.   Then while it's recording I watch from the beginnikng and  then can "Jump" ahead in real time  to skip any commericials.  By the time I get to the end of the game I've been jumping past commericials and  usually end up watching the last minutes in "real time".  Have the jump forward and back keys and mouse reprogrammed to work better (like 2 minute forward and 10 seconds back)  And I can mash those KB or mouse buttons very quickly in correct sequence to fine tune my position and pretty much get close to the commercial end point.   For me it's VERY quick and accurate and frankly I almost never see any commericials.   Been doing this way since my days of using the Snap Stream PVR 20 years ago.   Since then have "looked at" auto skipping progrs like Comskip" etc. but frankly not bothered to check that stuff out as my  wierd way of watching sports shows continues work fine for me.   

Also this "new" thumbnail thing has me looking at the whole video ployback (recorded and live) senerio .  So I'm doing a LOT of putzing with that which of course changes everything and results in MANY cancellations and tests not normally done.  FWIW, after extensive testing of watching shows (live, recorded etc.) I have become smitten wth thumbnails <grin> and kinda like the thumbnail method of seeking  playing positions to skip commercials.   I "THINK" my way of skipping fwd and bkw to skip around is faster, but having a graphical thumbnails rendition of the time line to scrub to and fro is totally new (to me) and I've been comparing the two techniques a lot.   I'm now putzing with thumbnail  generation and using it solely to jump around both live and recorded shows, with it turned on to generate live or post  recording or off entirely.   So LOTS of test recording and playback are beng done.   So far I am liking thumbnails and I think just have to get used to "visually" seeing the graphical frames being displayed.  I do a LOT of video editing and have many video editing programs and one important thing that is done either well or not with video editors is the accuracy and resposiveness of scrubbing along the displayed time video time line frame by frame.   Some are sloppy, inaccurazte  and not very customiazable.  Others are much more smooth and accurate ..In "most" cases you "get what you pay for".  <grin>   

Lastly (sorry so long) this long thread  is the result of all my testing which of course was heavily involved with all the video playback aspects which were all worknng so badly and  breaking up all my viewing with stalling, stuttering, and freezing I could NO LONGER reliably watch live or recorded shows.   The new AX file Sub just sent me has eliminated  ALL the playback problems and I can now really examine and compare the Thumbnail feature.    I'm just sooooo happy now. ..  <grin>    Sorry for such a long post but wanted to better explain WHY my current logs are so full of some strange stuff .. I still have some more learning to do regarding this "new to me" version 6 of NextPVR.

BTW, some mouse have a secondary mouse wheel on the side (like my Logitech mx master), intended for horizontal scrolling. The next release has wires up support for that, allowing you to easily scroll through the thumbnails (or tv guide etc).

Same here.  Using a logitech several button mouse with multiple wheel controls and extra side and top mounted buttons that can also change the "resolution" to be VERY fine which I need for precise control when doing video or graphics editing. The extra mouse controls are something I need.   Recently been playing with some 4k and 8k video editing.  One of the editors I still use is a very old  (Womble Mpeg video editor) which I'm sure Sub knows about.   Author is located in his  part of world.  <grin>  Sadly it's no longer supported or sold and I was working with that author as a beta tester when he was developing it a LONG time ago.  For control of the mouse, I use a 3rd party utility named  "X-Mouse" which has mulitple profiles with extensive customizable mouse swtich button wheel controls.
