Hi,
I upgraded my Windows 10 Kodi to v20.2.
When i start Kodi the TV options was missing from the main menu.
I opened the add-ons saw that "Next PVR" Client is disabled.
When I tried to enable it a quick message popped up to say I must upgrade to 5.2.0

It's not clear if this is add-on or NextPVR application that needs to be 5.2.0 or higher.

In any case I hoped on the NextPV download page Install Information (nextpvr.com) .
Downloaded it and I guess it installed.
What I ended up with was a web based NextPVR   http://localhost:8866.
The windows app is still there, and its version is still 4.2.5.

I can see the tv guide on both the web and app client. However, none of them work.
I cannot view any channel. I just get a black rectangle.
I checked out the settings on the windows app.  All the channels are still there.

Can someone tell me how to get both my NextPVR going.  Preferrable the windows app if possible.
And once running can someone tell me how to get the Kodi NextPVR add-on working.

Thanks.

If you had posted in the Kodi sub-forum here you likely would have seen the sticky topic on this https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?tid=64402

You do need to install a new version of NextPVR so 5.2 or higher, current version being recommended

The v6 installer does not upgrade v4 that is a manual process. Check the wiki https://github.com/sub3/NextPVR/wiki/upd...on-Windows Rather than changing ports I would just disable the v4 service. Note that many but not all tuner types will work after copying the database. Also note that the wiki page is over 3 years old.

Thanks.
https://github.com/sub3/NextPVR/wiki/upd...on-Windows mentions you can have v4 and v5 running at the same time.
Why would you need that?
Is V5 a windows based app like V4 or is it web based?

V5 and the current V6 are much the same there was just a major netcore bump. Don't consider V5 at this point.

When V5 first came out some users were reluctant to change so the original instructions allowed a means of having both during a migration. Some people wanted the long ago abandoned addons available in V4. V6 is now much improved over V4 in most areas.

V6 is only web based for configuration, to allow multi-platform setup. V4 had two web players many users just didn't use them and you don't have to use them in V6 if you don't want too.

You still use NextPVR.exe locally, there are UI clients like nlite for remote use and Kodi works the same.

Hi,
I just followed the instructions for installing version 6.
I still have version 4 as well
After I installed version 6 I copied the config.xml and the npvr.db3 files from v4 into C:\Program Files\NextPVR
Was this meant to copy over my original v4 settings ?
e.g. Log location, live tv buffer, recordings or all my channels.

Nothing has copied over.
Is there a way to import the channels.
I have them sitting in a config file.

regards

Erick

Copying those two files is all you need to do but you didn't follow the wiki so you put them in the wrong folder. They go to the data folder.

My Bad.
I didn't read the component page in the Wiki correctly. I've created some notes for next time Although now that I have upgraded I probably wont use them again.
I did notice that the "NPVR Recording Service" is still running and pointing at V4
Can I uninstall V4 or do i need the Recording Service there for Recording via Kodi ?
Or will V6 still let me record from Kodi ?

As I said originally I would disable the v4 recording service. Assuming you didn't change ports Kodi will just work as before I with Nexus enhancements when you reenable the addon
