I saw this last month on the RXTV website in the UK: BBC, ITV, C4 and C5 reveal Freeview successor “Freely”

Quote:New streaming service Freely is set to become the online successor to Freeview. It will allow viewers to stream all major TV channels without an aerial or satellite dish.
The service will launch in 2024, but will require a next-generation smart TV.

I wonder if NextPVR will be able to access it, or will it be locked down to the next generation smart TVs which come on sale in 2024?
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh

The rest of the roaring 20's will be interesting not just in the UK. Do young people even watch linear TV? Rather than worry I will wait and enjoy how stable NextPVR is.

Americans have the DRM and AC-4 issues with ATSC 3.0 so they will be looking for options in 2027. CableCard will probably die.

Here in Canada we are sticking with ATSC 1.0 but I depend on STB capture and my cable boxes have already been flagged as obsolete. Not sure I will be able to control the new boxes with IR (no more firewire for sure) so they generally use BT but for know it seems they might work No component though so I have been getting a few HDPVR's on ebay.

All of this maybe leaving pirate IPTV to thrive.
