Hi all.

I have huge Plex A/V library, and having recently got plex plus. I decided try to integrate my NextPVR viewing into Plex.

Now the only way to get live TV within plex is to use something like theadfin, or Xteve - so I settled with threadfin. My first setback, was that I had over 480 channels, and with Threadfin I didn't see easy, and straightforward way to manually edit, and delete channels, and I was not going to use m3u4u.com, as it require me exporting my nexrpvr M3U file into M3U4U.com, and this is a closed off system, and I'm not prepared to open ports to do that.

My solution would to feed the M3U to another NextPVR server in London from Amsterdam, cut the M3U file down, and from there it's fed to Threadfin, and then from there over to my Plex media server situated in London, I know it's back, and forth but the output works fine when I connect to the second NextPVR interface via VLC from my laptop.

I highly suspect the issue lies with threadfin. I wish NextPVR had the option to emulate HDHomerun devices.

I have attached my logfiles.

Attached Files

.zip   Server A (Amsterdam).zip (Size: 1.83 MB / Downloads: 1)

Really the post is to Plex to get them to support m3u files, it doesn't make the NextPVR experience any better.. IMO NextPVR doesn't really need more paid clients to support, there is more than enough core functionality on sub's plate, and not sure it needs an HDHR server. I've written a few clients myself and and adding HDHR emulation has zero interest.

Sounds like the real problem is that your 480 channels need to be manually updated too often, a one time edit wouldn't be that hard. Perhaps a subset of them are static and then just use NextPVR for those difficult to manage special events. The same PC and devices in your house can have both Plex and NextPVR clients on them.

If you are going to pay for Plex service you might also consider purchasing Emby or used Jellyfin directly, they support IPTV directly and migrating personal video libraries is not impossible

Overnight I remembered a couple of years ago reading about this project https://github.com/fHDHR/fHDHR_plugin_origin_NextPVR. Basically in theory it does expose NextPVR as an HDHR device. I never tried it and can't endorse it or vouch for security or reliabiltiy but it might be worth a look.
