NextPVR on Plex

Is there anyway to use nextPVR on plex?

There is an app for TvHeadEnd called antennas (https://github.com/jfarseneau/antennas/releases). This app translates the Tvheadend API to emulate a HDHomeRun API. When I try to use this app with nextPVR plex can see the tuner but needs to scan for channels which fails. I have attached pictures of this. 


Is It possible to get this working with nextPVR? I dont like TvHeadEnd and would rather use nextPVR If possible.

Plex is not a particularly good PVR so you are adding risk to an already risky system. That might be your problem not TVHeadend.

You didn't post the NextPVR logs to show what might be failing but I think it is antennas.

Since donators can use m3u files and xmltv files from NextPVR with xteve as the HDHR proxy it might work better.

In the days of plugins I had one that would expose nextpvr playback.   But since they have implemented above natively and removed plugins it’s quite difficult now. 

I did also have an agent and scanner so you could load nextpvr recording into a library.  But you have to do all your scheduling etc in the nextpvr web ui.  Which I’d argue is better anyway. 

Jellyfin is easier to integrate as there is also a plug-in (from @mvallevand I think) to integrate nextpvr quite tightly with jellyfin

unfortunately I can't switch to jelly/emby because I paid for Plex Pass and my Inlaws refuse to learn a new app.....

I've attached the NextPVR log. 
Also in the antennas console it says "  <-- POST /lineup.post?scan=start&source=Cable
  --> POST /lineup.post?scan=start&source=Cable 404 1ms -" when start scan on plex.

Honestly, I'm surprised you got that far with this.

I wouldn't expect that to work unless the author of the Antennas software had explicitly included NextPVR support. (ie, there is no common protocol that NextPVR and TVHeadEnd both use, that would make it conveniently compatible)

Sorry I don't follow Plex support so I suggest you use their forum, Reddit or Internet searching.

Plex's biggest issue for me is that they do this for profit so only handle the subset of devices that would be profitable. Although they changes they don't offer the lever of support that PVR needs. As a result users have to use hacks to bring in IPTV and use other tuners. The more interfaces the more chance for failure and there are also reports that Plex is not as reliable on its own as NextPVR. Here is an example posted today https://forum.silicondust.com/forum/view...01#p395201 posting "but found the live tv to be buggy. I can't rely on the recordings to work." I see this often enough to warn people.

The good suggestion from psycik to schedule and record in NextPVR and scan the recordings into Plex eliminates many issues.
