I do see another potential problem your HDHR does not have a static IP

"LocalIP": "192.168.0.100",
"LocalIP": "192.168.0.101",

I am not sure of the behaviour if this IP changes while NextPVR is running. Can you configure your router to get a fixed IP>

Thanks Martin, much appreciated. Will do this once the present recording is completed as I don't want to mess with it and I want to complete the 2 test recordings. So far all looks good.

Any thoughts on the other failures I was experiencing last & this week? They are what prompted all my mucking about in the middle of the nite.
Not sure if the logs I first posted went far back enuf; hoping to root the gremils out of my system.

cheers,

Martin, you asked: "Can you configure your router to get a fixed IP>"

Um, are you asking can I assign a fixed IP to the HDHR tuner via my router? Honestly, I don't know.
I will have to google it as I am not totally sure my router has that capability. Also I am not as tech savvy as I'd like.

If its possible, would that resolve some of the issues I have been experiencing with failure to lock signals? Do you think other devices have come on the network and taken the HDHR's IP, so that when NextPVR looks for it where it thought it was its not there?

Sorry to make you spell it out, again not the most tech savvy with these issue and appreciate the expertise provided by you and others!

ALSO AN UPDATE: The last two recordings completed successfully!

It's hard to say what the problem is since the logs are only for yesterday and today but I think the problem is the changing IP

Yesterday when NextPVR started the HDHR was .101 You did a rescan around midnight and it was .100 but it looks like NextPVR was still using the .101 that it found on startup.

2024-03-06 00:58:00.263 [DEBUG][10] Requesting: http://192.168.0.101:5004/tuner1/v2.3

I think there is an issue in NextPVR when the IP changes but better to set the fixed IP since you can't know when to rescan.

Sorry setting that is out of scope for me.

Gosh no, no reason to be sorry! Your technical help is much appreciated!

I am googling my router manufacturer's instructions for setting a static ip for a device right now. I am hopeful it is something I can manage on my older router.

Meanwhile, followed your instructions and deleted the channels from the 2 HDHR devices, rescanned them and then copied over the first ot teh second one, updated EPG and set two more random 1/2 hour recordings. Fingers crossed!

cheers,

OK it will likely be in the DHCP settings and you will need to get the MAC address of your HDHR. http://192.168.0.100/system.html (or 101)

Much appreciated again, Martin.

Last two random, one-time recordings completed with no issues. Will continue researching static-ip.

UPDATE: I have found the setting and, after a bit of fussing because it did not like the MAC address in the format the HDHR portal provided (I need to use "dashes" instead of "colons" as separators -> e.g., "-" vs ":"), I was was able to assign the tuner a static IP in my router. I used "200" as the last bit, as I read an article recommending to use the top part of the allowed range.

Need to restart the router have that take effect, and once I do I will do another couple random recordings and report back!

cheers,

Great. You also need to restart NextPVR to use that new IP after the router restart, hopefully that will fix the problem.

OK I think I am good now.

I did as you instructed, Martin, although I had to change the static IP to end with .199 (as 200 and above was out of my router's range). So after that and a complete restart of all devices made sure NextPVR was running and checked the IP for the HDHR and sure enuf it was set as "Permanent" at the new Static IP.

I set up two random shows to tape and it worked without a hitch. Both shows recorded no problems.

Logs attached in case there's anything of note. I think it's all back on track.

Thanks again!
