Hi, Support,

I am trying a new install/config of NextPVR version 6.1.5.231022 on Windows 11, and trying to set up the IPTV Device to use my IPTV provider data.  Everything seems to go OK (channels load properly, EPG updates properly, etc.) but when I try to view streams on the server and the supplied client, all I can get is the error Streaming failed. (transcoder exiting).  I have tried to do all of the more obvious configuration settings (implemented and activated LAV decoders, etc.) but nothing seems to work for me.  Would you take a quick look at my log files, and see if you can give me some guidance on how to correct this error?  Thanks in advance for your prompt response to my request.   lm32692

The URLs are returning a 404 so it appears your m3u file needs to be updated

I used the option in NextPVR to import the channel list and xmltv EPG using Xstream Codes. After the import, everything looked correct, all the channel entries, viewing groups, and EPG seems to have loaded correctly. The import using Xstream Codes should be the latest version of the channel list and EPG. I have tried to download the channel list using the provider's supplied URL, and I'm getting a 404 or File Not Found error on that download, but the similar URL for the EPG works correctly. (I have a ticket submitted to get the correct URL or have them fix their channel list.) In the meantime, do you know of anything on your side that might be going wrong to generate the 404 errors you found on my installation? Is it possible to export an xml channel list from your application, to check out the entries and verify that they are correct? lm32692

Nevermind, my provider changed their URLs to download the channel list and EPG. I will retry my installation now, and I think it should work. Thank you for your help and patience with my request. lm32692

If you have a choice (and you usually do) and your provider changes often, don't use the XC login find the m3u URL instead so you can update you scan.

Hi, Martin,
I sorry to be such a "bother" or "pest," but I really value your software, and want to use the latest version for all my windows machines.  If you will be so kind, please review the logs that I am uploading with this reply.  I installed the latest version of NextPVR, got the latest m3u and xmltv URLs from my provider, and imported them using the new URLs.  The latest import seemed to do all of the import stages correctly (including parsing, VOD updates, etc.), but I still get the same error message when I try to view any/all of my channels.  I have also tried running this setup without any of my firewalls, anti-virus, and real-time web protection enabled, so that external factors on the error are minimized.  Let me know if your troubleshooting finds anything new....Regards, lm32692

I am not the author of NextPVR so from the logs I can't tell what the software is doing but it sure looks like the URL is wrong to me or access is being blocked between the client and server.

It looks like have tried with bad URL's and XC before you had a working m3u. Do you only have one IPTV device now?

Hi, Martin,
In the latest install, I am showing two devices (the "baseline" IPTV Device, and a 2nd Device, IPTV (http://line.kemotv.cc/......) which the channels (15393 channels) are shown as imported into the 2nd Device. I have verified the channel URLs and the EPG entries as well, as they appear in the 2nd Device, and they appear to be identical to the entries in my downloaded m3u and xmltv files. You can help me further by telling me if this combination of Devices seems correct, or do I need to modify something? I tend to agree with your 2nd observation, that the streams may be being blocked by some "filter" between the client and server. I have been looking at various forums, and it appears that another user has found that Malwarebytes Pro had been blocking their streams in a similar fashion to what is occurring in my instance. That user disabled the web-based real-time protection and the streams started working. Unfortunately, that user was using a much earlier version of Malwarebytes than mine, and I have tried to disable all the real-time protection capabilities in my version of Malwarebytes, but still "no joy." I am going to totally uninstall Malwarebytes Pro for now, and do the install again and see if that will work for me. If it does, I will get in touch with Malwarebytes support and get their assistance in how to properly allow NextPVR to be an exception to the real-time filters. (The Malwarebytes list of options for the filters is very detailed and long, and I will need support to guide me on those changes, if necessary). In the meantime, how should my Devices look if they were working properly? BTW, when I check the backend status of my install, it lists the 2nd Device described above as active (which I think is correct). Thanks for all of you help with this......Regards, lm32692

Normally IPTV is straightforward so I suggest continuing the discussion after removing Malwarebytes.

Martin

Here's what I have tried:

  1. Completely uninstalled Malwarebytes Pro and restarted the machine.
  2. Used Co-pilot to generate step-by-step instructions to allow NextPVR in Windows Firewall.  Verified all WF settings to be correct according to Co-Pilot.
  3. Insured that NextPVR and its associated service were completely uninstalled from my machine.
  4. Downloaded a new installation file for NextPVR, and installed/configured it using m3u/xlmtv links from my provider.  Everything looked fine (channel list/EPG).
  5. Made sure that the LAV decoder set was installed properly on my machine, and that the config entries in client settings were consistent with recommended settings.
  6. Checked all the other client entries in settings and they appeared to be OK.
  7. Tried to play a selection from the TV Guide in NextPVR/web instance (localhost:8866).  It failed with the same error we have been getting.
  8. Restarted the NextPVR service in the Services App, and ran the NextPVR client software.  Opened the TV Guide, and tried to play a selection from the EPG.  It failed by returning to the TV Guide screen.  (I am assuming that the same error occurred in the backend software, so it wouldn't display the stream.)

I've installed NextPVR before the web version, and earlier versions of the NextPVR web instance successfully, but this installation/configuration snafu is puzzling.  If you have any additional ideas, I would be interested in trying them.  I will download an earlier version of the NextPVR web instance and try to install/configure that version now.

Regards,
lm32692

PS Two Questions:  1)  How would I set a higher debug level for the logs, or is that possible? and 2) Is it possible to get the author of NextPVR to take a look at this, or is that not an option?
