Martin here's the file you were looking for attached.

I read that PR on Github and noticed you were dealing with ksooooo or whatever his handle is. An extremely arrogant and dismissive individual who sees no wrong in any of his work and doesn't take suggestions on improvements or criticism on his work kindly. Good luck with that.

If I was Sub I'd concentrate more on my own frontend/client and less on Kodi. Kodi has become bloated with a load of meaningless addons just for the sake of creating an addon. It appears to be more important getting the next release out at any cost. Ever since the big hack on the Kodi forum meaningful contributions appear to have fallen off the cliff. Again just a personal observation. NPVR clearly stands out in it's own right as far as Live TV is concerned. I personally don't need Kodi, I just choose to use it when it suits.

Thanks that file has what I need for part testing. I still it doesn't have the U& crap names, I consider that a good thing.

Dealing with ksooo is a reality for PVR and not much I can do about it. This PR could have been much easier if he allowed my original concept, things typically explode because he is so formal about everything following exactly the same structure in code. The Internet is not particularly friendly anyway, you may recall our difference of opinion on NextPVR support in LE.

It's true that most of the Kodi PVR enhancements aren't for linear TV but that the same time it is good to be prepared. I try and avoid asking sub for big changes for Kodi so he can focus on the next version.

Also I have to keep pvr.nextpvr working since LE/CE are the best clients on most Linux based systems. For the next version sub took away an alternative Live TV timeline mode that I might be the only one using so now I use Kodi for Live TV and UI clients for recordings.

You’ll probably notice some numbered channel names in that file. They are for Olympic Games broadcasts and feeds and are only temporarily assigned.

If there are any further Beta updates for either Linux or Windows could you flag them as I can test and provide feedback particularly on the Astra 28.2 satellite DVBS broadcasts.

I can argue and debate with someone all day. What I don’t do is dismiss someone’s opinion. I’d prefer not to waste time collaborating with people like that and unfortunately the Kodi project seems to be attracting a lot this type of collaborators these days.

Since you and your neighbour are beta testing the SAT>IP component that should be good enough for now, just report any issues.  As I said it is a big released so sub can't just drop a new dll to get it up again easily if you encounter problems.

For the Olympics will you get any 4K on DVB-S?

In the fall I probably will be testing some NextPVR clients that support mpv (my generic client is based on libmpv)  I've run it on x64 and RPi 4 and 5 and it is OK since I used LE optimizations for the RPi. You were using a Rockchip I think does it support mpv?

Here is how the uploaded data looks with the PR's in Kodi Piers and pvr.nextpvr   I wasn't sure about the need for the PR, but seeing two of them in the one list it does make thing easier for those in the UK used to this convention.

Yes we are expecting a number of 4K broadcasts and even an 8K broadcast for the Olympics. I pick up a number of other fta 4K broadcasts on other European based satellites and NPVR handles them fine.

Yes I still use the Rock64 (RK3328) and get 4k@60mhz via hardware acceleration in LE and it does support MPV. Video very smooth.

I do understand the need to test latest versions of Kodi but I’ve backed off Kodi recently and that’s the first time I’ve heard the release name Kodi Piers mentioned. It may be a while before I start using it.

That's cool, not sure what 4K we get here, nothing for free.

For the Rockchip I only have RK35 devices so I doubt I can provide a test client, thanks for responding though.

Over the summer I picked up a Rock64 what OS do you run mpv with (other than LE)?  I want to test installing the next version of NextPVR on it and also try my Linux client to see how it plays on a lowend devices.  I am not an RPi fanboy and I like to look at alternatives.

Never really bothered with the whole OS experience on the Rock64 as there’s little community support and when you experience a problem you’re basically on your own. It was a bonus when LE came along as a plug and play experience. Try Armbian and decide for yourself.

Thanks. I know Armbian well enough I have used since before LE was forked but I wasn't sure where you tested mpv. I never tested the mpv package under LE but building my test client with the LE build system is difficult so I like to work with ninja builds at the OS level. My end state would be the LE OS booting a dedicated NextPVR UI client instead of Kodi. Kodi 22 is already getting unnecessary complicated with too many choices for many users who just want to watch TV and play recordings.

I fear that Kodi has run its course at this stage. It seems more important to get a new version out these days than iron out the bugs in the current version. A lot of posturing from some of the newer contributors while many of the older original contributors have exited the project.

I’d definitely go with Armbian though. The folks there are quite helpful. The Pine forum was once a good outlet for bespoke distros. Ayufan provided a Ubuntu based image for the Rock64 at one stage and maintained it regularly. I’m afraid it’s all but been abandoned now.

The Rock64 is in daily use here with LE13 and is completely trouble free. Great little board that handles up to 4K quality with hw acceleration no problem.
