Is there an easy way to go back to v6x once v7 has been installed?

If you are using Mint I made this pretty easy. Most of the major issues have been with Windows though, what is your specific concern?

Yes, using Mint v20.

I just don't have time at the moment to debug it, nor does the boss have patience to wait for a fix. I was using Timeshift previously, but apparently forgot to setup that up when I had to do a rebuild last Spring.

What we've observed in the last few days on v7 with Kodi and knewc:
-"999" during playback to autoskip commercials doesn't work again
-Play button to skip commercials doesn't work about half the time
-Sluggish response to remote in UI (knewc). Laggy enough that we arrow-key too many times and end up selecting OK before it catches up and we select the wrong thing. Also very sluggish with skipping during playback. This is on both the Kodi/knewc that's running as UI on the server box as well as ODroid N2 remote clients with Kodi and knewc
-OSD bar with playback progress is "harder to understand" -- struggling to get a quantification on that from the boss, but I think it has something to do (at least) with the new white dot that represents current playback position vs commercial locations. The sluggish remote response may be a factor here as well.
-The 10 second skip "preview" pics on the OSD are missing, but the remote keys still work as they did in the last version. You still have to click OK after pressing the FWD/REW arrows X number of times, there's just no preview to show you where you are skipping to in the recording.

Thanks for the response and help!
-Brad

The new OSD screen for UI clients is a bit sluggish without thumbs but sub isn't really looking into that, and I am also not looking into optimizing KNEWC. The new UI is really designed for a new generation of users. You probably should turn on immediate skip in config.xml to avoid just moving the dot for me that fixes most of the confusion introduced in v7.

The 999 and the play issue weren't even reported AFAIK so I am not sure how you expect those to get fixed.. I know I never tested them.

Netcore 6 is no longer supported by Microsoft and for NextPVR there won't be much point in coming back to this forum for NextPVR support but if you upgraded from v6 the steps to revert are

Code:
sudo service nextpvr-server stop
cd /opt/nextpvr
sudo mv system system7
sudo mv system6 system
sudo service nextpvr-server start

Thanks Martin. Perhaps I can grab some logs before I roll it back to v6 and do a formal support request. I wasn't expecting help with the issues/bugs today, just wanted to get it rolled back. I can find a day to putz with v7 maybe over the holidays.

For clarification, all UI controls are sluggish with v7 -- menu nav, TV Guide nav, etc., in addition to playback controls.

Thanks,
-Brad

Logs would be good. Perhaps it is something unrelated maybe you enabled thumbnails? I know a user was testing KNEWC berfore release and didn't note issue with the menu speed.

To go back to v7 just revert those stop.

I think I worked through everything listed and captured logs. The interesting thing is "999" and the 10 sec skip previews DOES work with Kodi/knewc that is running on the server (same PC) and does not work on the ODroids. I did not update any of the Kodi/knewc installs when going to v7 (not on the server or the ODroids). So the ODroids still have all the problems listed, but the server running Kodi/knewc really only has the slow nav/remote button response issue.

Now that I see mention of the 999 not working, I've noticed that too with knewc on the ODroid N2. I also noticed that on the Windows client, the 999 using the keypad of the keyboard seemed to not work, but using the 999 on the numbers keys above the letters did work. I did not do a lot of testing or get logs yet. I just remembered now when I saw these comments and thought I would mention it to see if it would help diagnose.

Have you enabled Num Lock on your keyboard ? If you haven't the number pad won't work.

The three "9" characters are displayed on the screen, but it doesn't switch to say that AutoSkip was toggled to off or on the way it does when using the numbers above the letters. I noticed similar behavior on the Odroid, in that it displays the three "9" characters, but doesn't toggle.
