The number of frequencies you see will depend on which channels you added when you did the original channel scan.
You only need to select one channel on that transponder frequency for it to show up in the DVB EPG scan list. (A transponder carries many channels on its single frequency).

In my case, I don't select quite a few of the channels (shopping/adult/religion etc) to add to the TV Guide so the number of frequencies seen in the EPG scan list is a lot less.

You can untick all but one of those 7 and still get a complete EPG (assuming signal quality is good). 60 seconds is enough to get a full EPG although historically, I set mine to 90 to be sure.

I found it interesting that you are able to get all the channels you want on 3 frequencies, on my transmitter (Craigkelly) the channels I want are spread across 5 or 6 MUX's. I only have 57 channels selected, no shopping/adult/religion etc or radio. I've been using digital tv since the Ondigital days and Freeview since it's inception. My main PVR is still a Topfield 5800, it's only downside is the tuners are SD only, hence Nextpvr which is setup to record to my NAS, playback is normally via Plex.
I know I only need to scan 1 channel for the complete EPG ( that's how my pvr is setup) just didn't realise that NPVR had the option, thanks for pointing it out.
So far using 7 hasn't caused any problems and seems to maintain a full 7 day EPG, but I will cut it down to one, probably 522000

NextPVR won't use all 7 if it doesn't have to. I think the main value would be avoiding the weaker frequencies with spotty coverage.

Thanks for all of your input(s). I've now set up as per advice just a scan for one frequency (514000).

Just a couple of questions (still no EPG for Quest and others BTW).

Firstly, how do I still get the EPG for other channels associated with the same frequency that Quest uses (506000) ie QVC, 5 USA if the signal is bad?

Secondly, about tweaking the orientation of the aerials - the two I use both point towards Crystal Palace, and both pick up the other frequencies with no issues?

There could be other factors at play, do the station on 506khz have a good picture? If so I would try setting it only to 506 and try the EPG scan and send the logs again. The Windows scan bug could have an impact

If your scanning 514000 you should get the epg for all freeview channels, the same complete epg is broadcast on channels.
According to https://ukfree.tv/transmitters/tv/Crystal_Palace ITVBE is on 514000

Dodgydart,

You say two aerials pointing to Crystal Place. Are any of these dedicated to the tuner in your PVR or are they shared with other devices (TV?) with a splitter?

TV tuners are inherently better at handling weak signals than the tuners generally used with PVRs. USB DVB-T tuners certainly require strong signals to work well

5USA EPG is broadcast on all frequencies (as should Quest) so you should be seeing their EPG scanning one good frequency. I certainly get 5USA from one frequency (I don't use Quest).

Martin - have tried the other 506 channels, and they are poor!  Although most of them I can get the EPG for, so for some reason or another that frequency is not a good one.

Bobins - i made a mistake when I said I have two aerials!  Actually, it's the one loft aerial, that is split close to the PC to provide a signal to 2 tuners.  Maybe that's the problem.

Log for the 506 scan included, anyway

I didn't see any difference in using just 506 for the EPG, all channels seem to get loaded. The logs do show a transcoding mess on 506 5-USA Live TV so it clearly is a problem.

Splitter can cause problem for sure and try with now split, some splitters don't split all frequencies or if it is amplified it could even make things worse. If that test fails I also getting a one minute full mux from sub's tscapture program https://tscapture.com/ and making it available before the test for analysis to see how bad it is.
