Hi all - New user here.

I've got NextPVR set up and running on my Ubuntu 24.04/Firefox system but I'm having an issue with the duration displayed on the timeline during playback (see attached image).

The left edge starts our showing 00:00:00 as it should and if you hit play it starts counting up the seconds as it should.

The problem occurs if you hit the skip forward button.  It seems to skip forward 30 seconds but the timeline shows it skipping forward 2 minutes.  If I click the timeline to move forward to near the end of the recording it shows approximately twice as many minutes as it should.

For example the image below shows a recording of 03:33:00 on the right side of the timeline, which is correct, but an elapsed time on the left side as 06:55:01 wich is basically double what it should be.

Any clues!  Is there a setting somewhere I need to change?

Thanks for any assistance!

Were you watching in-progress or after the recording?

I tried it both while it was still recording as well as after the recording was complete. Same result.

I also checked multiple recordings and swapped Chrome for Firefox. Same result.

I haven't been able to duplicate this (I've never used the skip keys before) so you need to upload the zipped logs from Settings->General to get more help.

Good idea.  Here are the logs.

Am I the only one running this on Ubuntu 24.04?

No but for recording I figure most user use a PVR app for direct play to avoid transcoding and slow skips that are required in the browser. Browser playback works better with IPTV files that use web standards. Do skips work better with thumbnails?

Also ignoring the time display, it is not clear to me that those buttons why you think those buttons should skip 30 seconds.

Could you zip and send /media/linuxstore/mythrepo/recordings/NFL Football/NFL Football_20250111_15301900.timing since I think a bad timeline could be part of the reason

Thanks for all your help with this Martin!

Timing file attached.

As for "it is not clear to me that those buttons why you think those buttons should skip 30 seconds" - I was just guessing how far it actually skipped (since I couldn't tell from the timeline).  After watching some more, I now think it skips 60 sec for each button push.

A little background - I've been using MythTV for many years.  After a recent incident I lost the DB and had endless issues reinstalling it.  So I started searching for a simpler replacement.  I don't know much about NextPVR, but it seemed easy to set up and worked with my HD Homerun tuner just fine.

As for "most user use a PVR app for direct play to avoid transcoding and slow skips". I guess I thought this was a PVR app ;-)  Is there one you would recommend?

Thanks again!

Trying again on the timing file.

For some reason the file attachment doesn't seem to be working.  So here are the first handful of lines in the file.  Hopefully that is enough to diagnose.

That's why I said to zip and send the file. The snippet doesn't really help but that timestamp isn't actually bad.

For me a PVR client needs full screen, a remote, fast skipping direct play and a 10' interface. Linux clients are pretty much limited to Kodi. My feeling is there are many good clients that don't require a HTPC and believe in keeping the backend in the back so using Android, Apple, Roku, LG or Samsung clients or Kodi on a SBC make more sense. This isn't new my PVR experience start with MythTV on the Hauppauge MVP 20 years ago.
