Daily M3U Update

Updating the M3U on a schedule with the ability to filter channel groups would be slick. This way would not need to incorporate an outdated 3rd party solution like xteve to filter and manipulate the IPTV provider M3U and refresh.

Does this meet your needs? https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?tid=61541 in the UpdateEPG script? Starting in v7 it only adds channels in the stored groups.

I have been look at ways to tame m3u importing for channels and VOD and make sports updating easier but it is not a trivial problem especially with the lack of feedback I've got on VOD.

I had seen this thread before posting this request. I was unable to get it working but maybe I missed something going from one thread to the other referenced within. I don't have the errors ready to troubleshoot. I had been having so many issues with NextPVR and timeshifting, when I could not get the M3U updating to work I got lazy and just started using an IPTV client again for reliability. I was hoping to start testing again once a new update is available. Thank you for the support.

I don't see how any IPTV changes in the next release are going to help you make timeshifting more stable. All the m3u update provides are new or updated URL's which assume your old URL's don't work at all. Nothing in NextPVR explained the 404 error you posted.

It the m3u updates updates a token in the stored URL then that token which could expire requiring frequent updates. Also for sport URLS that are added and removed daily you probably will would dynamically load IPTV with iptvsimple better. It gives the flexibility of updating the m3u file on a number of minutes interval.

For sports/expiring tokens, maybe adding native support for dynamic M3U refresh intervals could help avoid external tools? Just a thought.

Native M3U updating support for NextPVR is my wish, for various reasons so 3rd party tools are not needed.

As for the timeshifting argument, I narrowed down the issue to the Android Kodi client. For whatever reason it cuts off during playback using Kodi. I stopped trying to examine logs to determine why. I proved timeshifting works using the UI client for Android but it is unsupported these days you say.. so.. unless there is another working timeshift client I can test I am waiting for either an updated Kodi client for Android, updated NextPVR server for Linux, OR needing to replace hardware to remove Android from the equation.

404 errors or not, if it works with your Android UI client but not the Kodi client without random disconnect, logic dictates the issue lies with the Kodi client for Android. I left the possibility open that a NextPVR server update may resolve the issue, as I cannot explain what the problem is..

This is why I stopped testing NextPVR at the moment but am still checking back periodically in the support forums. I like the software and would love to see it work as I would like with the Android Kodi clients on my Nvidia shields and timeshifting.

When you are able to provide the debug Kodi logs and timely NextPVR logs that I asked for I am happy to look again. I also said I could test a problem channel using your provider but I didn't hear back from you. I am not sure what more I need to do. Otherwise nothing is in development for pvr.nextpvr and simply testing or doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result is no doubt insane without getting more information on the source of the problem.

In fact that insanity is why I paused development of uidroid related to the timeshift skipping to zero issue. It happens unpredictably and nothing I can identify or control seems to help. I figure it is because uidroid doesn't have the low level access to http I need when a buffer is loaded. If sub fixes channel changing I will look again not expecting a change but to make sure there is no regression. I will certainly address other UI client issues or features that sub introduces so that development has not stopped.

I'd like to think of myself as more lazy than insane lol.. :-)

I just have not circled back around to the issue and turned on debug for Kodi and NextPVR to collect more detailed logs for you to see. I took a look before but could not identify more than what we had previously discussed. I will make some time and upload to my original thread for you to take a closer look.
