Okay. So I know this is a dumb question probably but. If I were to export my recordings by clicking the export recordings button would they be saved in a folder for when I would have to import the recordings. Just checking and wanting to be safe here.

It is not clear what you are trying to achieve or ask. The recordings themselves are not exported to the file just the database entries. Import will add the entries if the files are are found and not in the database say on a new setup.

The recordings are saved in the folder configured at Settings:General:Recording Directory.

You can copy recordings from this directory to edit, transcode, or whatever you want.

Yes, when you click Export Recordings the files are saved to a folder you choose (or a default export folder), and you can later import them from that saved location—just make sure you note where they were saved.

Need to be careful how you phrase this.  Export Recordings only exports 2 XML files which contains meta data of what the recording names / times / location etc.  Also, a if you have any recurring recordings schedule, it also exports that information into an XML file only.  It DOES NOT export the physical recorded files at all.

You can then import those 2 XML files to a new installation and they will all appear automagically.
