You can't compare the HDPVR and a DCR, the DRM status on the DCR came from the Silicondust lineup.

I don' understand your last sentence, NextPVR knows how to tune the HDPVR but it is by sending the channel number in the guide (XMLTV or SD) to the blaster. You need to know what channels you subscribe too.

You're right. DCR channels are sourced from the DCR itself with the "Lineup.html" file. I misunderstood your post. That file includes all the DRM channels which are not imported by V7.

I wanted to be sure that the HDPVR2 responded only to DRM channels so I used V4 to create a xxx.2 channel for each DRMl and mapped them to the SD guide for schedule information. When a DRM channel is selected, V7 blasts the STB and the STB HDMI output is now the HDPVR2's HDMI input.

It's been working great for ten(?) years.

Sorry I must be dense. If 502 is only available via the HDPVR why give a friendly name of 502.2 just tick only the channels you want when you scan.

On my Verizon cable system, 502(WCBS-DT) is not DRM, but 583(Fox Sports 1) is. Sending 502 to either device type is not a problem. But sending 583 to the DCR won't work since 583 is DRM and the DCR is not authorized to decode it. I must force 583 to the HDPVR2, which will in turn IR it to the STB. The HDPVR2 will now receive and encode the STB HDMI output. 583.2 forces 583 to the HDPVR2.

I don’t get why you’re talking about ir blasters and DCR tuners. DCR devices do their own tuning, so don’t need blasters.

If your DCR devices can’t do certain channels, delete those channels from this device and the application won’t try to use it.

Sorry, sub, poor grammar. Of course, only the HDPVR2 needs blasting the channel to the STB.

No need to delete channels for the DCR tuners: V7 does not list DRM channels when the DCR is scanned.

You finally got through to me. Since 583. or any DRM channel, is not in the DCR scan, I am free to use that channel number for the HDPVR2. No xxx.2 notation required. But...If I need a fourth tuner to tune a non-DRM channel, the xxx.2 notation allows me to use the HDPVR2. It's happened. I am restricting the use of the HDPVR2 to DRM and few non-DRM channels.
