No, I hadn't.  Smile  I was following the steps given on this wiki page which has the reader begin at the Channels screen in Settings.

Just finished importing the EPG via the Settings -->Guide screen as you suggested. Looks like it worked!

So now the next steps are to launch the NPVR client, tune to a channel, and try scheduling a recording. Unless you think there's something else needing to be done first.

I think it is better to start on the Channels screen too, but I guess you didn't do that.

Looks like I'd started from Devices (see the first image on this page), when clicking on the Hauppauge device took me to the second image and then (as I continued the process) to the third and fourth images on that page.

But an option to enter the SD login info never did show up via that route. In my case, starting from the Guide screen worked much better for the purpose of retrieving the SD EPG. Thanks greatly for the suggestion!

Sorry I actually meant Settings->Guide too. It lets you review all your lineups.

No problem, your help and @sub's help has been invaluable.

Next step will be to try tuning a channel in the NPVR client and scheduling a recording. That'll be late tonight if not tomorrow.

Make it a long future test to see if a screen saver comes on.

Lots of progress in the last day. Tried doing a couple of sample scheduled recordings and they worked great. NextPVR is very cool. Cool

No screensaver has activated while the NPVR Client was open. I even left a recording on pause overnight and in the morning it was showing me the same image as when I paused it the night before.

Actually, it would be good to have NPVR go into a screensaver following some specified period of inactivity (while allowing any scheduled recordings to proceed, of course).

Something that I know my wife will ask about is if there's a way to get forward skip and backward skip; I didn't see these in the control overlay that pops up at the bottom of the NPVR client. In WMC we use the 6-second backward skip to go over actors' mumbled lines.

Much still to learn, but so far so good!

I was meaning a screensaver on the STB. I think yours is still a dedicated connection, but with streaming based STB they often timeout and go to a screensaver or barker screen for upcoming shows.

There are lots of skip options. I've posted a keyboard reference I've made but I don't have it handy on this PC.. Sub's directions is to use thumbnails now though.

Ah, I see what you mean about screensavers -- thanks. Yes, we're still on old-style STBs. I learned that my IPC1100 has only a single tuner (in my innocence, I'd thought that it was simply a DVR with the recording function disabled), so I haven't been able to test recording on multiple channels at the same time. But I've managed to record off some copy-protected channels via the component connection and play them on a different computer, even if component doesn't yield as sharp an image as HDMI.

Regarding the skip options, it'll be great if you can track down that reference guide. Using thumbnails to move forward and backward through a program is one thing that my wife actively hates about many streaming services.

Here you go for NextPVR.exe and UI clients https://github.com/emveepee/Testing/wiki...dReference The skip times are in config.xml

I don't like thumbnails myself, but most remotes now only have 5 to 10 keys with limited skipping so your wife (and me!) are not in the majority.

Most new STB's don't have component so be prepared for this if your legacy devices are replaced. There are HDMI to component adapters too as an option.
