Hi.

As the title suggests - I saw one of these available for sale on Facebook Marketplace, and was wondering if anyone had any experience with these cards.

Is it worth buying and trying, or would I be wasting my money?

It depends on how much you like to tinker with Windows (direct show) or Linux v4l. There was a related thread here https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?tid=59499 If that is all Greek to you then you would be wasting your money from a NextPVR perspective. Get an HDPVR (wiindows) or HDMI network grabber instead.

From OBS it probably works.

Yeah - it's pretty much all Greek to me.  I've got both my existing Colossus 2 cards, so it's not like I *need* the change - I was just hoping to consolidate onto one card, to save a bit from a power-supply perspective.

Thanks for the advice.  Smile

Have not been on in a while and wish I had seen this earlier. I would have told you that if it was cheap then go for it. have been running one of these as well as the m.2 slot version (magewell eco dual HDMI). You can find those on eBay for cheap. Using the driver linked below by jpoet  for linux you can capture 60fps with bistreamed 5.1 AC3, EAC3, Atmos, etc. I have tested with nextpvr, channels dvr, and mythtv.

Thanks for the response - but given that I'm using Windows, it's a little moot.  (Unless it can be ported over...)

It might work with Windows as an Extra, the issue I have with this devices is it doesn't have a built in video decoder so you will need to transcode to h264 on the PC.

Yeah I can see how encoding part would be a hassle if you dont have the horsepower.

I use build in intel qsv encoder on a i5 13600k which I under volt. Using the cpu's build in encoder doesnt appear to use up a lot of resources unless I try to encode multiple h265 files at the same time. Encoding multiple files in h264  simultaneously doesn't seem to tax it at all.
