The majority of UK EPG doesn't include the Series data and often uses the format of 5/100 .i.e. Episode 5 of 100 (e.g. BBC TWO: Richard Osman's House of Games).
For a long time NPVR has translated it to S00E05.
I know we've looked at this several times previously and given there is no universal EPG standard requiring inclusion of Series and Episode data, getting logic that works for all EPG sources/Countries is a challenge. We don't even have consistency over the Terrestrial channels in the UK.

I was able to figure out what was going on. Sometime the guide data has this show title split with ellipses as shown in post #1 and sometime it is not split. When shows are split those leading episode/count variables aren't ever parsed to S00E.. Sometimes like those North Surrey episodes the data isn't there at all.

The main issue I wanted to look at was the redundant season/episode string was supposed to get removed and that leading info kept. Looking at how it is working is that is reversed.

Thinking about why radio broadcasts have issues I realize these are typically parts of one book as opposed to being episodic. One of the designs for this adopted by NextPVR is it allows part based episodes as follows

S01 E01
S01 E02/1
S01 E02/2
S01 E02/3
S01 E03

Has anyone seen this in the UK? In those two sample I saws the last value as total episodes in the season.

Can't remember seeing that type of thing on TV channels/recordings. I don't tune in or record any radio channels so no idea about that side

I think it is pretty much more theoretical, I saw the more normal total episodes use a lot in the end of the now/next data for another mux. The Simpsons is a good example.

Quote:Secrets of a Successful Marriage (S05E22) Homer teaches a marriage guidance class but divulges a load of secrets about Marge and ends up in the doghouse. Or the tree house, at least. (S5 Ep22/22) [AD,S]
Never noticed that before, having said that I don't watch/record it.
It very much depends on the channel how much info there is in the EPG, UK channels tend to be very inconsistent with series info even within the same channel.

You will find most the guide data that has season information will be like that.

The issue I pointed out is NextPVR is supposed to strip out the redundant (S5 Ep22/22) since it is already displayed S/E fields and leave the non-series based 1/2 style at the beginning of the description but the logic is reversed.
