That would be a great idea...if there was a Quality setting in the Configuration section. I saw a screenshot posted by someone else with this, but it doesn't appear in my version...and I'm running 0.94.13 (wasn't there on my 0.93.10 either).

Also, I can capture in 720x576 @ 25fps at an average bitrate of nearly 5Mb/s with NeoTV, so I don't think I should have to compromise on quality settings. I'd love to get an encoder that can be used in GB-PVR rather than somethign builtin an proprietry to NeoTv...much more flexible in the long run. Have to pay for one of them...not two.

Just tried LEAD and the VIdeo Encoder doesn't appear in the list, is there a tweak like the Elecard?

Just get yourself a PVR150 to replace your current analog card and you'll be set - with full support for both analog and digital. It may not be what you want to hear, but I think you'll save yourself lots of grief in the log run.

you are right...it isn't what I want to hear. Smile

I already have a DVB card that works perfectly well - its just a pity it isn't a PVR 150! Just wanted to get analog working in the same software, ho hum, maybe not. So its either $29.99 to Neo for something that works well but is a separate program, or $44.95 to Elecard for something that doesn't work that well...mmm.

Given that I rarely need to do scheduled recordings from analog then it doesn't really matter that its a separate program.

...or like $60 to Hauppauge/ATI/Sapphire for a new compatible tuner (with hardware MPEG2 encoder), which works well with GB-PVR, and provides the convenience of being able to use the same app for both analog and digital, and the benefit of near zero % CPU usage while recording and no lost frames. I'd rather pay these few extra dollars than suffer through the painful experience of using a software encoder. The on-going pain just isnt worth the few bucks.

A reasonable point, if I couldn't capture quite happily with no lost frames in software for < $30 without even needing to open my PC up, then yes, I'd be off buying a card for this.

But analog capture is now a minor requirement for me so buying extra hardware now does seem a waste, especially if it costs twice as much (and in the UK the PVR150 is more like 3x more @ £60+).

I just don't understand why the Elecard encoder is so hopeless in comparison to the NeoTv software...

At least I can playback the MPGs and DVDs created by NeoTV in GB-PVR...which is nice.

Nomanr, have you been able to pinpoint where the problem is? Did I send the right log file?

Thanks,
Greg

ggee: Yes you did, I just missed it Smile

I had a quick look at it, and it sounds like I'll need to add more debugging info so that I can figure out what I need to change. Alternatively you could load up your capture device in GraphEdit and tell me what the video outpin pin's categroy is  I'm assuming that category is Capture, and MediaType is Video, but I suspect your card may be different.

Hi Normanr

Many moons ago I talked of problems with low res viodeo and OSD from my sweetspot card. (a problem I think is shared by necro).

Following much messing around (a few reinstallations etc) I have now got the sweetspot graph from the sweetspot card using V19 of your fine plugin.

I'm not sure how to print out the graph (pls advise) but using graphedit I can see the sweetspot card is linked to a video capture device and then this is linked to a device called video renderer. When I click on the properties of the wire to the renderer it has properies YUY2 PAL_I @60Hz (sic) 320x240 16bit.

This explains why the picture is less than ideal :-) Though I am at a los about what to do about it. CAnt imagine why 60hz should be framerate as pal should be 50Hz

I have seen some people can print graphedit graphs and can post them. Pls advise me on how to do this and I will attempt it. Is there a report from graphedit that will give you any needed info?

Hope this helps.

I'm not sure what you are looking for. How do I find out the catagory? I found a way to export the graph as XML. I'm not sure if that has what you want. Doesn't look like much is in it. It is attached.
