After a couple weeks I have my HTPC working well, thanks to NextPVR.  I am still tweaking settings and need help with programming my Harmony 650 remote.  Most commands can be programmed into the remote but the skip forward (60s) and skip backward (30s) which uses the keyboard control + arrow is giving me issue.  Can these two commands be remapped within NextPVR to a different keyboard button, like maybe the comma and period buttons?  If this is possible, I am eager to learn how to edit XML files if someone could point me to a tutorial.

Some of this is editable, but I don't remember the last any user ever edited this (15 years ago?), so it's not really well tested.

You can look in the KeyMappings.xml file and try editing this:
Code:
<Key code="{CTRL}Right" command="SkipForward"/>
<Key code="{CTRL}Left" command="SkipBack"/>
<Key code="{CTRL}R" command="Rewind"/>
<Key code="{CTRL}F" command="FastForward"/>

I have some knowledge with XML but unsure of how to edit.  If I want the "keyboard period key" to skip forward, do I simply replace the "{CTRL}Right" instruction with "." and do same for other remapping?

If you replace the period you can't tune  ATSC by major.minor.  What remote are you using.  Also if you don't use thumbnails you can configure left and right to skip which I find most convenient.

I am using the Harmony 650 remote.  I did make changes to the KeyMapping.xml file using the 'period' and 'comma' but this did not yield the results I wanted, it actually effected other commands that did work.  I restored the original default KeyMapping file to get back what I started with.  I was eventually able to find an acceptable work-around for now.  I can explain, but unless you understand how to program the Harmony 650 nothing I say would make sense.

I have one and understand but default MCE or Hauppauge settings would work best with NextVR no mucking about requires.

You can see the key names in this table https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet...sktop-10.0

You can prefix with {CTRL} {ALT} or {SHIFT} if you want it to use those modifier keys

Thanks for suggestion, I did not know that Hauppauge had 'Device' to use as key assignments.
