Hauppauge Dual HD tuner not scanning

Im trying to get Nextpvr running on Ubuntu 24.04 HWE desktop using a Hauppauge Dual HD tuner. Nextpvr correctly identifies the tuner on the Devices page and dmesg | grep -i hauppauge shows appropriate info, (Linux version 6.17.0-14260204-generic (buildd@lcy02-amd64-059) (x86_64-linux-gnu-gcc-13 (Ubuntu 13.3.0-6ubuntu2~24.04) 13.3.0, GNU ld (GNU Binutils for Ubuntu) 2.42) #0+mediatree+hauppauge~hwe-Ubuntu SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Sun Feb 8 (Ubuntu 6.17.0-14260204.0+mediatree+hauppauge~hwe-generic 6.17.9), but no /dev/dvb at all. So scanning for channels immediately fails with no device node detected. Im suspecting a permissions issue and I am in the nextpvr group with rwx permissions on everything in /var/opt/nextpvr and /opt/nextpvr. I dont know if there are other folders that need checking. Logs attached.

run dmesg > dmesg.txt then zip and attach it here. It could be a firmware issue.

Lol, I'm retired as well, never expected to be as busy as I am now. Here's the dmesg file. Well for some reason it wont take the 32kb zip file created in Ubuntu 24.04. Any ideas? Well that was odd. I had to copy the zip file to the desktop THEN drag and drop it in the forum upload area.

To confirm it is permissions and not an install issue read up on running dvbv5-scan.  Also retired and on vacation too so not opening attachments.

Often the kernel support for Hauppauge cards is good enough and you don't need to go the PPE route.

Well technically I'm partly retired - I'm freelance but it's outdoor work and I don't have to do it so this time of the year I'll leave it to the younger folk who need the money more. Plenty of work needs doing at home.

Back on topic though  I searched the dmesg output you posted and couldn't see any mention of Hauppauge.
