Hi Martin
I had to do some major repairs to the HTPC as it had recently started Crashing to a hard restart or complete lock up.

After a Repair via Windows update and reinstalling the graphics drivers, I thought I would see if Piers was any more stable.

All the plugins updated OK except the NPVR addon which was disabled.  After a bit of research I tried the latest artifact NPVR plugin which would not install due to an unavailable dependency (Direct-ffmpeg or something like) Then went back to Omega using my last Disk backup.

I'm sure you are on the case but will Piers be available for NPVR any time soon?

It appears the problem with the HTPC may have been that some time previously the NPVR Plugin switched from Time shift to Live Stream and the latest AMD Drivers were crashing on any small glitch in the stream. (especially now the weather is warming up) Changed to 3 sec Time shift and reverted AMD drivers to 26.3.1 - so far so good

I have been using it for years, it could just be the nightly. The inputstream-ffmpegdirect addon might be failing right now but I don't even make it a mandatory requirement so the build system might be have. I will set up a test.

That being said pvr.nextpvr works better in Piers IMO.

Yes it was that inputstream-ffmpegdirect addon was unavailable and it was yesterdays nightly I was trying.
At least I now know all my other Kodi plugins will update.
I've heard Piers is much better with 4K so will use it sooner than later but not much use without NPVR

I installed from scratch to a new folder in portable mode and it said inputstream-ffmpegdirect was not available but it still allowed installation. It is not a mandatory file, it is just used for the transcoding option.

That reminds me I have an pending update that I need to get in.

OK. Installed Piers Nightly KodiSetup-20260522-368cac50-master-x64 which Installed but disabled NPVR plugin and wouldn't allow enable as expected. Then tried to install the latest artifact 22.6.0 using install from zip in Kodi, which wouldn't let me proceed due to the missing inputstream-ffmpegdirect. I then unzipped the artifact and replaced the pvr.nextpvr folder in AppData\Roaming\Kodi\addons, with it - Success  Big Grin

Kodi Piers with NPVR has been running for a couple of hours now - everything is looking good, actually it's looking REALLY good.

Thanks Martin for your help (and new artifact)

The new artifact has nothing to do with the change, your post reminded me that I had it ready for a couple of months. I suspect the issue is with the Kodi upgrade process and I will report it to Team Kodi. Maybe removing pvr.nextpvr through Kodi would have solved it.

I did have the same thought, so had also uninstalled the npvr addon in Kodi but it made no difference. I guess that if something is listed as a dependant, if it's not available, it stops the install. Hopefully  inputstream-ffmpegdirect addon will make a return soon.

Hmmm. I'm running Piers 22 Alpha 3, and the NExtPVR addon is working fine for me. I only do the Piers updates when they get to a milestone state, so I haven't tried the nightlies. Those are much more unstable. My test machine for early release Kodi builds is a Mac, so I suppose it's possible it's a platform specific issue too.

You might try installing Alpha3 instead of the nightlies. There is a link to the latest Alpha for each supported platform on the web site:

@pkscout his trouble with was with the installer not the application, I suspect when you upgraded from Omega inputstream.ffmpeg was available.
