Hi Folks...

I don't really understand how iptv recording works so i may be barking up the wrong tree...

i use the mjh m3u8 playlists to watch and/or record live ,free iptv....

ive had a recurring problem where the recordings fail with "recording interrupted" and a few other issues that i don't want to trouble anyone with here...
....it seems like if there is a glitch in the stream, it causes the recording to fail.

now...i have tried using ffmpeg command line on a few recordings, and it seems to be able to handle the glitches - you can see it as warnings in the scrolling logs....
but the resultant .ts file comes out complete.

hence the question - is there a way to pipe all the channels in a m3u8 playlist to go through ffmpeg first? (i'd like to see if ffmpeg can help out with glitchy channel streams)

Ive tried putting the mjh playlist .m3u8 into an 'extras.xml' but it does not show any channels...(admittedly i got the code lines to do it from AI slop)
I would be prepared to manually put all the channels in the extras file, if thats the way to do it, but i'm lazy and wondering if there is another way?

This is what i put in "extras.xml":

<extras>
<channel name="FFMpeg stream">
<command>ffmpeg.exe</command>
<args>-i "https://i.mjh.nz/au/Sydney/kodi-tv.m3u8" -vcodec copy -acodec copy -f mpegts -</args>
</channel>
</extras>

but even i dont think this makes sense

any advice would be greatly appreciated...

All the i.mjh.nz filles are streamed with ffmpeg. ABC channels are a problem but those are fixed in the next release.

Thanks Martin - yeah i found that even viewing abc lately crashes the service - trying it a few times and the nextpvr icon goes grey and stays that way - even after a re-start - had to kill the db files and start again.

Ok - seems weird that command line ffmpeg works flawlessly....will send logs of the next few failed recordings.

I have never seen reports of the server crashing, that is unrelated, we do need those logs though or there are no problems.

Martin

yeah when it crashes, i can no longer get the logs....the service doesnt start, so the page with the 'get logs' button never comes up.

in order to get up and running, i had to delete the database, which seems to take out the logs as well...

Just so i'm getting this right...

" All the i.mjh.nz filles are streamed with ffmpeg"
does this  mean mjh 'transmits' using ffmpeg....?

or does this mean nextpvr already ingests them via ffmpeg?

(what i'm looking for is a way to stabilise the stream that nextpvr sees, to reduce the number of recordings that fail)

when i used ffmpeg command line. it seems to be able to deal with minor dropouts, including for abc channels...

Yes ffmpeg is used. Sounds like you have disk problems logs are separate and can be found in the logs folder.
