I would like the option to not display the OSD when I skip forward (long skip?)
When I'm skipping from play to play watching a football game recording, I don't really need or want to see the OSD (it hides the game clock/score for one).
I can always pause or show the info bar if I need to see the OSD.
With the latest release the OSD is rather large (I've removed the controls to make it smaller).
Thanks,
Art

I tried playing with the OSD settings in the config file, but couldn't determine if any of them applied to this request.
A work around I found was to send Ctrl+B after the skip commands in my remote configuration.

+1 - Watching golf this weekend and waiting for the OSD to disappear after 1 or more long skips was annoying. The timeout settings don't seem to apply here. I'd really like to turn it off for long skips (zero timeout?). I can always hit my info button if I need to see the OSD. I've gotten used to Emby working this way...
Comskip does not work well for me with golf or football, so I disabled it for those recordings. Plus I'm skipping thru slow parts of the event.
With football, the score/time is typically behind the osd, with golf, often the ball is behind the osd - lol
If I follow Ctrl+Right with Ctrl+B using my remote configuration, often the server hangs. I don't know how to add a delay between keystrokes. Let me know if you want logs...

You really are missing out with not trying thumbnails for golf and football.

What is the "fast" part of a golf match?

If sub doesn't add this server side there is a new API that I could add it as a yauiclient feature. The recent OSD is quite large especially for a user not using thumbnails.

It's hard for me to explain. I did make the OSD smaller in my modified skin. I simply don't want to see it when I skip forward or backward. With golf, I skip forwards and back to see the moments that matter. (some golfers take more than 30 seconds to putt or make a swing). With football, if it's a game that I'm only curious about, or isn't close score wise, I'm only trying to watch the key plays, or until the score has become more interesting. When I'm skipping around, I can always press the Info key to see where I'm at time wise.
I tried the thumbnails, but they don't solve my use case.
It just seems like disabling the OSD on skipping wouldn't take too much of a change... Either a setting of zero as the timeout to not show it, or maybe a different key combination instead?

I know you are testing NextPVR but without 7.0.6 you aren't always going to get the client side thumbnails. It will solve your problem because one of the design change is to use the new client side API and hide the OSD after a thumbnail seek since it is not as much of a guess as time seeks.

Thumbnails don't work for my use case because I'm trying to fast forward thru the action on screen without hiding information behind the OSD. I want to see the full screen and have a sense of what is going on. I'm skipping thru boring parts or just speed watching a game that I'm only mildly interested in. If I can't see the score or time left on the clock, I can't monitor the status while skipping. A tiny view doesn't help either.

I found out how to insert a pause before sending Ctrl+B to hide the OSD on a long skip forward, so I'll test that. It's a little annoying to see the OSD flash on the screen, but I'll see how this goes.

In the long run I will would prefer a way to disable the OSD on long skip forward or back.

I don't know for golf I think sub's thumbnails are perfect https://streamable.com/yxedcy (this is yauiclient from a remote server running 7.0.6) How does this not give a sense of what is going on? I speed up and slow down the key by just releasing the key.

I can't see the score of a basketball or football game with the thumbnail on a smaller TV.
What I see vs what I would like to see.

I understand what you ask is by point on direct skipping is how do you know you are even ending up with a screen with the score and not a commercial, talking heads or an interview.

In your screen shot where you landed on basketball when you look to bee in pre-padding for PGA how will you know when the golf starts?
