New version problem with playback

I gave instructions in that other thread about collecting another special demux log. You could try that too. The more info I can get, the better.

I'm lost ... (nothing new)   I just re-read this thread from the beginning (twice) and I can't fnd any reference to something called "demux.log".   Can you help and point me to the thread so I can learn what a demux.log is and how to generate it?   I don't recall seeing that subject personally anywhere in the past?

Rich, for now it might be worth checking if you are using LAV decoders too, and if so, see if going into the LAV decoder setting to enable hardware decoding to see if it helps.

Am using only LAV decoders for everything. Latest version 0.74.1 (it should have installed both 32 and 64 bit versions). I have examined and tried various things settable in the audio LAV codec section. And have had hardware encoding (in the video area) both on and off. When on it's using the Intel Quicksync codec. Oh ... wait .. I HAVE messed with just about every setting in both the audio and video section of the LAV codec.

But right now hardware encoding is currently turned ON. Let me turn that off as frankly what with changing DLLs, and messing with the codec settings etc. I think I need to do another new test with the acceleration turnned OFF. Let me try that ...

BTW, I used my favorite AI engine to learn all about what I gotta do to enable that demux.log thing. So I know how to enable that now. I'll edit the nextpvr-server.conf file as needed and can provide that log if needed. We are dealing with a very old dog trying to learn a new trick here. <grin>

When your audio video gets out of sync, does it end up with audio ahead, or video ahead?

Not really sure which way it's happening.  Last time I tested I think the video was ahead of the audio.  But I have good news.  an hour ago I found the hardware acel. was ON, so I turned it off and shut everthing down and rebooted the PC.  I've been watching a talk show and after 57 minutes the sync is looking good.  Note that I HAD tested with the hardware acel both on and off multiple times and it was always bad.  And now it's looking spot on.  Don't know why it's now working.  Maybe the most recent combo of changes fixed it (the DLL change?)

So I've got a few more shows to watch to confirm.  I think I'll turn the hardware accel back on and see what happens.  If I had to guess I'd say the audio was lagging behind the video.  Like how you first see the lightning flash and a second later hear the thunder.  

Oh .. maybe I was sitting too far from the speakers ?    <grin>

It would seem that you are correcct about the signal.  I had replaced an older antenna preamp last weekend with a newer model that was providing more gain.  Apparently, I over-loaded my tuner.  I have now removed a distribution amplifier that was in the line and replaced it with a splitter.  The channel I was recording is closer to me with a stronger signal than the other channels, which are further away and not as strong.  Getting rid of the distribution amplifier fixed the problem.  I appreciate the help, and I really enjoy using NextPVR.

I had a similar problem - the local Toronto channels broadcast from the CN tower nearby. Very strong signals. The Buffalo stations are about 70 km away, in almost the exact same direction. Any amplification overloaded the HDhomerun tuner. I was able to resolve the issue with a bandstop filter that attenuated 500 to 542MHz (all but one on the Toronto stations).
