I recently updated nextpvr from version 7.0 to version 7.1. Version 7.0 had been working properly with no issues at all. After I upgraded to version 7.1 I began to heve guide related issues. I got frustrated to the point where I reformatted the SSD and installed a brand new copy of Ubuntu 22.04.5 and nextpvr. The issues persisted. I next tried a clean install with Ubuntu 24.04.4 and nextpvr. Not only did the same issues persist but now there was an additional memory leak to contend with.

1. scheduled recordings are broken, I keep getting [Failed: HDHR stream not available]
2. When a TV show that I'm watching gets to the end, it stops and drops to the TV guide instead of playing the next show.
3. I can't get rid of the Silicondust EPG. The trash icon turns red when clicked, but nothing happens.
4. I have the timeshift setting at 120 minutes and the Ubuntu 24 memory leak occurs when a channel is left on for a day. Eventually the PC reboots due to "OOM" out of memory. I installed a dynamic memory manager "swapspace", which showed that virtual memory was getting over 300GB, dotnet appeared to be the issue.

Please find attached log files.

You can't get rid of the HDHR and unfortunately a patch isn't possible because the pre-release has diverged a lot. If you create the file here https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...#pid610298 in /var/opt/nextpvr that should avoid issues with it,

Is your device a real Silicondust HDHR? It is rejecting connections

2026-07-29 18:00:00.842 [DEBUG][12] WebException: System.Net.WebException: Connection refused [::ffff:192.168.1.3]:5004 (192.168.1.3:5004)

If it is real check the HDHR logs on that device.

There is a potential issue here that might just be the accent that was fixed in 7.1.1

2026-07-29 16:00:00.652 [ERROR][12] Unexpected error creating TSWriter map: System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path '/home/wolfman/Library/Media/DVR/The Steve Wilkos Show/Season 13/The.Steve.Wilkos.Show.S13E105.My.Fiancé.Was.Convicted.of.a.Sex.Crime.I.Dont.Believe.It.ts.map' is denied.

Your scenarios 2 and 4 are impossible, however I did see two instances where tuner used for live TV was needed for recording which would have stopped it.

Thank you for the quick response, I'm grateful for any help provided to me. Smile

I did try your suggestion with the xml file and found no difference.

So I burned the midnight oil last night and came up with a possible solution to my issues #1&2. I'm using a mini PC (Beelink EQi12) with attached USB storage (QNAP TR-004) for recordings and other media. The recordings folder was set up as follows:

owner:me, group:video and user:nextpvr.

This arrangement worked with no problems on version 7.0.
Last night, on a hunch, I decided to change the recording folder owner to nextpvr and leave the rest the same. I'm now starting to get recordings again and the "drop to guide" issue has'nt happened again so far.

In other answers, yes I have real HDHR tuners, I bought them from Silicondust.

If you have real HDHR's the XML changes would only be on use if you never setup channels with Silicondust. You logs didn't indicate an actual problem.

NextPVR knows nothing about file system permissions, I suppose it could have been a dotnet minor update but I doubt it.

For the memory issue, my virtual memory is always huge 250GB+ but the actual memory rarely goes over 2GB. I you try and run with less on Linux I think there is a problem. For 120 minutes of 1080i i can easily see 20GB of virtual memory but I would be concerned if you are limiting actual RAM.

I'm checking in to let you know that my Ubuntu 22.04.5 system is working properly again. I think that nextpvr/dotnet needs to have ownership of the recording folder to behave.

Last night I installed Ubuntu 24.04.4 and the 7.1.1.260616 version of nextpvr on a spare mini PC (Beelink S-13). I've been running it under the same settings and condition that previously caused a memory leak. With the ownership of the recording folder set to nextpvr, there is no more memory leak. YAY!!

A web search for "ubuntu 24 dotnet memory leak" showed some very interesting results, at least for me.

Thank you for helping me out with this. Smile
